Geving up to sixth in GSC standings; Marysville Raceway up next
PENNGROVE, CA (7-18-10) – This Saturday night Alissa Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Sprint Car Team will join with their colleagues in the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series as the tour makes it's first visit to Marysville Raceway Park in several years. The new improved surface and facility in Marysville will be a welcomed challenge for Geving following a night of mixed results in round 20 at Antioch last Saturday.
"We are really looking forward to the visit to the new Marysville Raceway Park," said Geving. "It should be an exciting night for everything since it has been so long since the Golden State Challenge Series raced there. I haven't had much track time there since I ran Jimmy Sills' School and they remodeled the place so I'm really looking forward to it."
In the most recent event at Antioch Speedway, Geving advanced another position in the Golden State Challenge point standings despite an unfortunate rollover in the A-feature that placed her 14th overall in the 30-lap event.
Earlier in the night, Geving turned the eighth fastest position in qualifying with a 12:510 second lap aboard the Tillet Tool, Pit Stop USA, Auto Repairs Unlimited #3x Maxim. In preliminary heat racing Geving finished in second place of the evening's second heat race. She started the feature event in the eighth position. Geving was advancing through the field and working on the fifth position when the #3x suffered a rollover while running the highline of the second turn.
"We we're a front running car for sure tonight, the crew really had it set up great," said Geving. "Just as was getting into the top five I ran out of real estate running the high side and it ended our night with 14th. I want to thank my crew for all their hard work, we'll come back in Marysville and try to get back up front."
As she enters the 21st segment of the King of California Sprint Car Series, Geving is now up to the sixth position in the championship point standings. She is just 10-points out of fifth place. Geving has claimed two heat race victories in the series and has five top ten finishes in the 2010 series. Following the event at Marysville Raceway Park, the Golden State Challenge Series will wrap up over the next three weeks with upcoming events at Ocean Speedway on August 7 and Placerville Speedway on August 21.

PENNGROVE, CA (5-1-10) Two time Petaluma Speedway champion Alissa Geving of Penngrove continued her campaign in the 2010 Golden State Challenge King of California Sprint Car Series Saturday night. For the first time in her racing career, Geving took to the fast bullring Santa Maria Speedway in Nipomo, California for the sixth round of the traveling series for 410 sprint cars.
In her first venture on the high banks of Santa Maria, Geving was amidst one of her strongest runs of the year in the Golden State Series but a mechanical woe forced her our of the 30-lapo feature event just after the green flag. Despite the disappointment for the 18-year-old open wheel ace and her team, Geving still advanced in the series point standings.
In qualifying on Saturday night, Geving clocked in the seventh position, turning an impressive 14:042 second lap. The strong qualifying lap positioned her to later compete in the prestigious dash midway through the program to determine the fate of her starting position in the 30-lap A-feature.
In heat race competition, Geving finished in fifth place in the opening heat of the evening, further securing her position for the eight car dash that would determine her starting position for the eight car dash. The dash determined the first four rows of the 30-lap feature event later in the program and features the best of the best in an evening's race program.
Starting in the seventh position, Geving fought off the challenges of Peter Murphy and Kyle Larson to secure a fifth place finish at the checkered flag behind Tommy Tarlton, Zach Zimmerly, Jonathan Allard and Bobby McMahan. The finish placed Geving on the inside of the third row in the starting line up of the feature event.
"The car was great all night," said Geving. "I was hooked up in qualifying, did really good in the dash. I really think I had a top three car for the night."
As the field was preparing for the feature event it was noticed that a bolt that mounts Geving's brakes onto the rear end of the car was broken off. The damage was noticed far too late to make the necessary repairs, forcing her to call her night short due to the safety issue it posed. Geving took the green flag for the feature event, then pulled off the track surface. She was scored in the 21st starting position at the end of the night.
"Pulling out of the feature was really disappointing but I would rather be disappointed then be unsafe," said Geving. "Fortunately it was noticed before we started racing. It could have been a really bad safety issue at speed. Now I get to go back to Chico this week so I am really excited."
Despite the DNF, Geving advanced a position in the point standings of the Golden State Challenge Series where she now sits in the seventh position. This coming weekend she returns to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico to compete in the Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial.

Geving remains determined as mechanical woes still haunt her at Ocean
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PENNGROVE, CA (4-24-10) When it comes to racing, or basically anything in life, Alissa Geving isn't happy with below par performance. In recent weeks the two-time Petaluma Speedway track champion has shown great patience as she has been faced with the adversity of mechanical woes aboard her Tillett Tool, Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises #3x sprint car.
During last Saturday's fifth round of the Golden State Challenge Series, Geving was tossed adversity once again. The venue was Ocean Speedway on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds and Geving kept her head up despite continuing set backs in the power plant of her popular red and white Maxim sprint car.
"It's been very frustrating to say the least," said Geving. "We've gone through two ignition systems only to learn the problem is far deeper than that. We've been in a situation where I could go back to racing my 360 at Petaluma and the Civil War but I really want to stick with the Golden State Series."
Through the help of fellow colleagues and teamwork among her sponsors, Geving is due hoping to
acquire a fresher motor in the coming weeks, which should remedy many of the set backs she has suffered in the last three events of the Golden State Challenge Series tour. This week the series returns to the famed Santa Maria Speedway and Geving hopes times will soon be a little better in the #3x pit area throughout the night.
"Pretty soon things get to a point where they can only get better," said Geving, who always finds the positive in nearly everything she does. "I'm really happy we have found what our problem is, now we just need to find the solution. I think I can make up some lost ground in this series soon."
Last Saturday night Geving was 19th in qualifying with a lap time of 15:089. In her heart race she advanced from seventh place to ninth which placed her in the 12-lap semi main event in order to qualify for the A-feature. In the B-main Geving drove from fourth to first to lock the 19th starting position in the 30-lap A-feature.
Racing on a very hard packed, single lane track for then A-feature, Geving was only able to advance to the 17th position at the conclusion of the event. She continued to maintain the 8th place in the standings behind Zach Zimmerly and Jason
Statler.
"I'm really looking forward to Santa Maria," said Geving. "I haven't race there before but I hear it is a lot of fun. Hopefully we can make a better showing this time for my fans and my sponsors. I appreciate their support through these tough times we've had."

Determination nets top ten finish for Geving; Ocean Speedway up next
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PENNGROVE, CA (4-17-10) Anyone who knows Alissa Geving knows that she is an overachiever that simply never gives up, even in times where it seems that doing so is to no avail. Last Saturday night such was the case as Geving was faced with adversities from the first green flag of the night in round four of the Golden State Challenge Series. For Geving, the mechanical woes shadowed her return to her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway but once again, the 18-year old resident of Penngrove never gave up.
"From the time we pushed off it just seemed like nothing was going our way," said Geving, who fired off at Petaluma only to experience motor and ignition problems for the second consecutive week in the Golden State Challenge Series campaign.
"It was really frustrating but I kept my focus throughout the night."
The misfiring power plant continued to haunt the Chicko Motorsports #3x Maxim Sprint Car through qualifying. At a track where Geving has won two consecutive championships an commonly ranks within the top five qualifiers, she turned a lap time of 13:822. The time placed her 13th on the roster in a field of 19 cars. For Geving, her homecoming was about to become a very long night.
After qualifying the team went back to work under the hood and determined the problem was within the ignition system of the car. A secondary ignition was installed and the car still had difficulty firing up and performing up to par. Despite the set back, Geving returned to the track for her respective events to stay in the points chase for the series.
"If I wasn't determined to run this entire series I probably would have just parked the car for the night," said Geving. "The car was not capable of being competitive but without a B main I knew I could at least start the A feature for points."
In her heat race Geving started in the fifth position and simply maintained it for the 10 lap distance to finish in the fifth. Her qualifying time combined with the heat race finish placed her deep in the field for the 30-lap A-feature where she reported to the track with the determination to at least take the green flag.
Much like she has in the past, Geving extended her goal once the green flag waved on Saturday night and remained in competition all the way to the checkered flag. In the end she rallied to a top ten finish, despite the challenges throughout the evening.
"I just gave it everything I could and did the best I could with what I had," said Geving. "It was really frustrating but these things happen. I really want to be competitive in this series. With the current motor I have I'm not sure how I am going to do it but I am going to give it everything I've got out there."
During the week, Geving's Tillet Tool, Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises #3x sprint car has undergone a vigerous inspection and correction marathon. A new MSD Ignition system has been installed and the team is ready for round five at the smooth and competitive Ocean Speedway on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds on Saturday.
"We' will rally back at Ocean," said Geving. "I've run really good there in the past so hopefully we have put our problems to rest and can get back to racing like we should be racing. I'm ready to well in this series."
Despite her performance on Saturday, Geving maintained her eighth place in the standings. She is 52 points out of the lead and five points behind Zach Zimmerly who maintains seventh place after a damaging crash.

Geving returns home as Golden State Challenge Series heads to Petaluma
Two time track champ looks to rally back in standings after strong run came up short at Tulare
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PENNGOVE, CA (4-17-10) Just a week ago Alissa Geving shocked many of her hometown fans into a frenzy with an announcement that she would not return to the weekly Petaluma Speedway All Pro series to chase a third consecutive title and instead, was joining the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series tour.
This Saturday night those fans that were awakened by her bittersweet news will have the opportunity to see the personable lady racer that possess a serious need for speed back in action at the track she has claimed two championship titles. The King of California tour is bound for Petaluma Speedway this week and along with its Kings comes the queen of the 3/8 mile dirt track, Alissa Geving also known simply as
"Chicko."
"Making that decision a couple of weeks ago was really tough for me because the one thing I truly love about racing at home is all of the great fans that have supported me there," said Geving. "So it's pretty obvious I'm excited about coming back this week for the Golden State event. We had a strong run last weekend until we had some motor issues and I hope we bring that momentum back."
Last weekend Geving made her third start of the year in the competitive Golden State Challenge King of California Tour. The scene was at the lightning fast Tulare Thunderbowl in Tulare, California. After a fifth place finish in Antioch the week before, Geving carried her recent string of success in the 410 cubic inch venue.
After timing in with the 12th fastest lap of the night with a 14:213 second circuit, Geving returned to the impressive smooth packed track for heat race competition. Where she started on the outside of the front row next to pole sitter Mark Workentine. When the light went green, Geving went with it and charged ahead of Workentine to take a lead she would never relinquish in the 10-lap preliminary event. At the finish line she finished ahead of Jason Statler, Andy Gregg, Tommy Tarlton and
Workentine.
The inversion placed Geving deep in the field for the 30-lap feature event. At the waving of the green Geving began working her way to the front but battling a somewhat tired motor and a pair of spins eventually led to her demise in the Faria Memorial event. After losing power during a caution period early in the race, Geving restarted from the rear of the field and began to rally back towards the front but later suffered a spin in traffic that would result in a 19th place finish at the end of the night.
"The car was set up great. It was flying around there," said Geving. "We are running a tired motor and I knew at some point it was going to have an issue and it decided it would during the yellow flag. We got fired and the car was working great up top. I just tried too hard to get back to the front and ended up spinning out of the race. I love racing with this series and I hope we can pull together the resources and sponsorship to become more competitive. We definitely need to improve our motor program. We can't do it without more funding so I am doing the best with what I have."
Geving ended up 19th officially on Saturday night. Her longtime childhood friend and fellow racer Kyle Larson went on to win the event. With the finish, Geving is now 8th in the championship point standings. She is tied with veteran driver Andy Gregg of Placerville and both drivers are 36-points from the leader. Geving is the only female racer that has started all three Golden State Challenge events in 2010 and is one of just two lady drivers in the tour. She is joined by Danielle Simpson who has started in two races and recently climbed to 18th in the standings.
This Saturday night, Geving will return to familiar territory. Not only is Petaluma Speedway the site of her career accolades including a Rookie of the Year Title and two consecutive championships, it is a track she has studied for nearly 18 years of her life since she was just a toddler sitting in the stands with her Mother watching her Dad race, the successful Gary Geving who hung up his helmet to allow his talented daughter to continue a family tradition in the North Bay.
At Petaluma Speedway the fans are very passionate about their favorite drivers. When the news broke of Geving's departure from the weekly series last week their family owned business was inundated with emails and phone calls and a Petaluma Speedway social networking site seemed stunned with her "Out of Left Field" major announcement. While many were saddened they wouldn't see her run for a third title at the track they call home all of them ended their inquiries with well wishes and support.
"The response was pretty overwhelming. It wasn't what I expected at all," said Geving. "I love the fans here, like I said that's what I miss the most. Their concern and support for me in my new goal is just awesome. I can't wait to see all of them this week and I hope they will all come say hello regardless of my performance."
The Golden State Challenge Series consists at 28 total events at 14 different tracks in the months to come. With excessive travel and the need for an improved motor program Geving and her Chicko Motorsports team are seeking additional title sponsorship for the season to come. As the youngest female sprint car champion in the world that boasts one of the most incredible personalities in the sport and continues to pursue her education, Alissa Geving is a prime marketing representative for any successful company or product.
"We are ready to give your company or product great exposure," said Geving. "It extends far beyond the wing panels and the media coverage. I am always eager to speak on behalf of my sponsors and endorse their product or service in any way I can. I'm hoping we can partner up with someone very soon and associate their company with this incredible sport."
While they are seeking additional sponsorship to compete throughout California, Chicko Motorsports would like to thank their current dedicated marketing partners including, Tillett Tool, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Pit Stop USA, and Auto Repairs Unlimited. Additional associate sponsors and promotional considerations include K&N Filters, Napa Auto Parts, Flowmaster Mufflers, Hodgin and Son Tree Service, Allstar Performance, Santa Rosa Auto Parts, Jeremy's Chair Repair, Afex Graphics, Simpson Racing Products, 21st Century Health Club, Vanlare Steering Repair, Pro Shocks, ALC Machine, JW Web Design and Sullivan Images Media Specialties.

Golden State or bust; Alissa Geving announces change of venue for 2010
Two time Petaluma Champion will pass on third title run to join Golden State Challenge Series
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PENNGOVE, CA (4-8-10) As young adults, most of us have made major decisions that later shaped our lives in one form or another. Monday evening, Penngrove's Alissa Geving made such a decision that could very well accelerate her racing career to all new levels. Geving has announced she will forego her quest for a third straight championship in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series and will focus her efforts on the traveling Golden State Challenge 410 sprint car campaign.
Over the past two weeks, Geving has had the opportunity to compete in the series that crowns the King of California annually as she awaited the opening of the 2010 championship season at her hometown track, a facility where she has dominated the headlines over the past two years as the youngest female sprint car winner and champion in the nation. With recent success in the Golden State Challenge campaign, Geving has decided it is time to make a change in the direction of her open wheel racing career.
"Racing these past two weeks in this series have been some of the best times in my racing career," said Geving. "I am racing with drivers that I look up to and I have respected for much of my life and I could not ask for a better start to the racing season."
Two weeks ago, Geving traveled to Placerville Speedway for the Golden State Challenge Series opener. In the past, the Placerville bullring has not been such a friendly battle ground for Geving. On this occasion she fought some handling woes in her Chicko Motorsports #3x Maxim Sprint Car in preliminary competition. She later overcame such adversities to complete her best ever run at banked red clay track carved in the hillside of the sierra foothills. Geving drove from 15th to finish ninth in the feature event.
This past Saturday night the Petaluma Speedway season opener was cancelled due to inclement weather and soaked track conditions, which gave Geving the opportunity to pilot her Tillet Tool-Matt Cordeiro Enterprises-Pit Stop USA sponsored sprint car in the second segment of the Golden State Challenge Series at Antioch Speedway.
In this event, Geving qualified 7th in the field with a 12:183 second lap. She finished fifth behind point leader Jonathan Allard in her heat race and then finished the dash in the 8th place starting position. When she took the green flag for the 30-lap A-feature she began the race with a very tight handling race car and faded slightly in the line up as she searched for the perfect line to rally back into the top ten.
With nine laps to go in the event a yellow flag required a single file restart in the event and it was then that Geving began her journey towards the top five. Restarting the race in the 10th position she found a way to make her car work on the Antioch clay and muscled her way into the sixth position when the checkered flag flew. The finish tied Geving's all time career best GSC finish as she raced to line in the company of California's best drivers including Allard who won the event followed by Evan Suggs, Brent Kaeding, Jason Statler and Bobby McMahan. Geving clinched the sixth position over Shane Golobic, Andy Gregg and Colby Copeland.
Following Saturday's success, Geving is currently sixth in the point standings for the Golden State Challenge Series tour. After much consideration and with the full endorsement of her team and sponsors she has vowed to continue running the King of California tour.
"This was not our original plan and I gave it a lot of serious thought," said Geving. "While I will miss the many fans who have supported me in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro series the time has come where I need to make a move where I will gain additional exposure in my racing career. This is something I have to do if I want to follow my lifelong dream of one day racing with the World of Outlaws."
Geving's sudden announcement caught the attention of many drivers, teams and professionals that are involved in California sprint car racing Monday night. While she will be missed in the local weekly campaign those who follow the Golden State Challenge Series tour are always eager to see new competition in Calfornia's premier tour for 410 cubic inch powered cars.
"I think Alissa is going to be a great addition to the Golden State Challenge, it will be great to have two female drivers on the tour as she joins Danielle Simpson in her rookie season, the duo is great for the marketing of the series," said motorsports journalist Gary Thomas of the Golden State Series. "She has done well in her first two starts of the season and getting more 410 experiences in the series will be a great thing in the progression of her career as she races with some of the best drivers in the sport."
While Geving's new direction combined with her over-achiever attitude is sure to help her accelerate into the ranks of the state's most prestigious campaign she knows the feat is going to take a lot of hard work. Not only will this venture require additional traveling it will also require additional funding to remain competition. At this time the team is operating with a single 410 engine so she is seeking additional sponsorship in the season to come.
"I've decided I want to do this but it's not going to be easy and I am not sure how we are going to pull it off financially down the line," said Geving. "I am so appreciative of my longtime sponsors for all their support in my decision but we are seeking additional sponsorship, its just something we have to do to make it happen."
Geving will make her third start of the season in the Golden State Challenge Series tour this Saturday night at the Tulare Thunderbowl in Tulare, California. While she looks forward to the event, she admits it feels a little bit strange knowing the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series will be opening back at home.
"It's bittersweet, I admit," said Geving. "I have a lot of great fans that come to Petaluma each week and I will miss seeing them and hearing them every week. But there comes a time where all have to move on in our careers and this is that time. But we will be back when we can and I can't wait until the GSC comes to Petaluma this year."
While they are seeking additional sponsorship to compete throughout California, Chicko Motorsports would like to thank their current dedicated marketing partners including, Tillett Tool, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Pit Stop USA, and Auto Repairs Unlimited. Additional sponsors include K&N Filters, Napa Auto Parts, Flowmaster Mufflers, Allstar Performance, Santa Rosa Auto Parts, A1A Performance Muffler,Jeremy's Chair Repair, Afex Graphics, Simpson Racing Products, 21st Century Health Club, Butler Specialtys, Vanlare Steering Repair, Pro Shocks, ALC Machine, JW Web Design and Sullivan Images Media Specialties.

Geving sheds the Placerville monkey off her back with ninth place GSC finish
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PLACERVILLE, CA (3-27-10) Over the past two season's Penngrove's Alissa Geving has competed on a number of different racetracks in California, North Carolina and Oklahoma. In her young successful racing career one of her more challenging tracks has always been the high banked Placerville Speedway bullring. After Saturday's Golden State Challenge Series opener, 18-year-old Geving sees the red clay bullring in a different light then before.
"This place just hasn't been good to me in the past," said Geving. "We would come here with high hopes of just finishing a main event without incident and just couldn't seem to get the job done. Tonight we finally got to the checkered flag and picked up a top ten at Placerville. This place is a lot of fun once you get a little used to it."
Geving was one of 22 cars in competition for the event for the Golden State Challenge Series, California's premier series for 410 cubic inch powered winged sprint cars. For Geving, limited sponsorship funds and her busy schedule in the Civil War Series and her home track of Petaluma Speedway allows for little time to compete in the tour with the likes of Brent Kaeding, Jonathan Allard and Jason Statler. If Saturday's drive into the top ten is any indication of Geving's ability to run with California's big dogs the Kings of California surely will be seeing more of her in the future.
"I love running this series," said Geving. "I would love to run this tour fulltime but it's a lot of traveling and we just don't have those kind of resources to field a 410 fulltime right now. But any chance I get to race with these guys during the year I'm surely taking it."
Saturday night Geving drove her Tillet Tool-Matt Cordeiro Enterprises-Pit Stop USA to the 15th position in qualifying with a 10:602 second lap on the quarter-mile. In the third 10-lap heat race of the evening the two time Petaluma Speedway All Pro Champion finished fifth and then set her sights on the 30-lap feature event.
In the feature race Geving lined up deep in the field, on the inside of the eighth row with Zach Zimmerly on the outside of her. With the waving of the green flag she took the reigns of an ill handeling car, still extremely tight as the heavily soaked track had still not completely come in to match the set up on the car.
Midway through the race it was apparent that the track had adjusted well to the set up of Geving's #3x Maxim as she began to rally through the field. Despite a scary moment that took her up the backstretch hill and broke a shock, she continued to press forward with her determination to garner that official Placerville Speedway finish that has eluded the team for some time.
When the checkered flag waved Geving came across the line in the ninth finishing position. While it wasn't a victory, for Geving it felt like a season long championship as she finally shed the Placerville Speedway "monkey" from her back.
"The car was really good tonight, it was a little tight at first but I knew it would improve as the track came in a little more and it did," she said. "The back hill deal was kinda scary, I was thinking for a minute maybe I wasn't going to get that finish I wanted so bad but I was able to keep it on the track and got the job done."
Prior to Saturday's race, Geving met a number of area race fans and Placerville residents in Historic Downtown Placerville at RPM Photo Gallery and Executive Barber Studio. Geving was invited to an autograph session by are photographer and artist Phil Hamilton who supports Placerville Speedway with man special events such as this.
"I really want to thank Phil for inviting me to his place on Saturday," said Geving. "It was great meeting a lot of the fans and kids in downtown Placerville. I really appreciate him giving me that opportunity to do that."
Following Saturday's GSC event, Geving will now focus on the 2010 All Pro Series Championship at Petaluma Speedway which begins this Saturday, April 3rd at the track now bannered the "Wine Country's Center of Speed." Geving will chase a third consecutive title at the North Bay track where she could join David Lindt. Jr. as just the second driver to win three such titles.

Nation's youngest female champion invited to pre-race meet and greet in downtown Placerville
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PLACERVILLE, CA (3-27-10) After strapping into a sprint car for the first time of the season one week ago, 18-year-old Alissa Geving will return to the high banks of Placerville Speedway this Saturday night for another high profile series opener.
Geving will be behind the wheel of her 410 cubic inch powered Tillet Tool-Matt Cordeiro Enterprises-Pit Stop USA sprint car for Saturday's Golden State Challenge Series opener at Placerville Speedway. The Golden State Challenge is California's premier race series for fire breathing 410 sprint cars. For Geving, a busy schedule in the year to come prevents her from competing in the popular campaign and two time Petaluma All Pro Series champion is looking forward to another night on the Placerville bullring.
"Last week I was feeling really good at Placerville, the set up on the car felt right and I was really focused on starting a new year ," said Geving, who started her year in the Civil War 360 sprint car series last week. "It just seemed like I was always in the right place at just the wrong time throughout the night and I got caught up in a couple of incidents in the feature that ended our night."
Geving qualified 16th at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds last Saturday night. After a fifth place finish in her heat race she held off a hard charging Kyle Harris in the semi-feature to secure the final starting position in the A-feature. Unfortunately for Geving she became caught up in two consecutive incidents in the 30-lap affair that ended her night with an early retirement to the pit area.
"At Placerville starting position is everything, especially when you haven't raced their a lot," said Geving. "The banking makes the track really fast and a lot of fun but there isn't a lot of room to work your way up to the front when your deep in the field. This week I'm hoping we can nail our set up good again and I can turn a good qualifying lap that will carry me into the feature event."
Although she competes primarily in 360 sprint cars in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro series and the traveling Civil War, Geving enjoys any opportunity to race in the Golden State Challenge campaign with the extra horsepower and the diverse caliber of fellow competitors. This Saturday night Geving will be one of many California Champions in competition. She will be joined by 13-time King of California champion Brent Kaeding as well as the past series royalties of Jonathan Allard, Jason Statler and many more. Another area titlist in competition will be one of Placerville's winningest drivers and former champion Andy
Forsberg.
"It's always rewarding to race with these drivers," said Geving. "I only get the chance to do it a few times a year and usually it's when they come to my home track or we are at Calistoga when Petaluma isn't running. I'm really looking forward to another night at Placerville before we start our run for a third championship at home."
Following Saturday's GSC appearance, Geving will then begin to focus on the 2010 All Pro Series Championship at Petaluma Speedway. She will chase a third consecutive title at the North Bay track where she could join David Lindt. Jr. as just the second driver to win three such titles.
Prior to Saturday's event, Geving will be on hand in downtown historic Placerville Speedway to meet area fans and families at RPM Photo Studio on historic main street. Geving was invited by photographer and artist Phil Hamilton who will have much of his work on display, a must see for the race fan who has a taste for abstract racing art that features many of the local drivers. This is the second week Hamilton has volunteered his location to help promote Placerville Speedway and auto racing in El Dorado County. Track schedules will be on hand for vistors as well.
"I really want to thank Phil Hamilton for the invite to his business on Saturday," said Geving, who is scheduled to be on hand from 1 p.m. until 3.p.m. "It's always nice to meet new fans and I really appreciate Phil inviting us up for the afternoon, downtown Placerville is a neat little town and it should be a lot of fun."
Geving will take to the track at 6:30 p.m on Saturday night Alissa Geving and her entire team invite race fans to visit their race hauler following the Saturday's event and at all events in which they compete. Geving loves meeting the fans of all ages and signing autographs. She encourages youngsters to follow their dreams in life while pursuing higher education as well and is a great inspiration for youngsters.

Placerville Civil War Race marks opening of 2010 season for Alissa Geving
By Bill Sullivan/Sullivan Images Media
PLACERVILLE, CA (3-20-10) After mother nature washed away her hopes of a strong run in the Chico Mini Gold Cup last weekend, Penngrove's Alissa Geving is gearing up to start the 2010 racing season this Saturday night. The two-time Petaluma Speedway champion will take her first green flag of the year in the Civil War Sprint Car Series which opens at Placerville Speedway in El Dorado County, California.
"I was really looking forward to Chico last week but Mother Nature had different plans I guess," said Geving, who claimed the 2008 Civil War Series Rookie of the Year title and has won the last two track titles at her home track of Petaluma Speedway. "So now we start our season at Placerville Speedway. I love the Civil War Series and I'm looking forward to racing with the tour this year."
Geving will be aboard her family owned Tillet Tool-Matt Cordeiro Enterprises-Pit Stop USA sprint car for Saturday's event, one that is expected to draw nearly 40 competitors, all looking for a strong start in the popular California based race series for 360 cubic inch sprint cars. With Petaluma Speedway routinely operating on the same nights as Placerville, Geving's appearances on the famed red clay quarter-mile have been far and few. She has competed in select Civil War Races, Golden State Challenge races and a handful of point races on the tight bullring track.
"Placerville is the one place I just haven't had the opportunity to race at too much," said Geving. "I like running there. It's much different than Petaluma in the way of banking and track surface and requires an adjustment of both car and driver. We're looking forward to it as well as the Silver Cup next week."
While attending college, Geving stayed active in racing over the off season. At the end of the 2009 racing season she ventured to North Carolina to participate in the NASCAR Diversity Combine program. In January, Geving traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete in the famed Chili Bowl. Driving for Chris Walker and the famed Bay Muffler Racing team, Geving took to the track with some of the nations best drivers in her very first midget racing experience.
Geving will take to the track in Placerville on Saturday night as qualifying will begin at 6:30 p.m. Following this much anticipated event she will travel to the Silver Cup in Chico the following week before her return to Petaluma Speedway to begin her run at a third championship in the All Pro Series.
Alissa Geving and her entire team invite race fans to visit their race hauler following the Saturday's event and at all events in which they compete. Geving is a competitor who thoroughly loves meeting the fans of all ages and signing autographs. She encourages youngsters to follow their dreams in life while pursuing higher education during their climb to the top.

Geving ready for green flag on the 2010 racing season in $55,000 Mini Gold Cup
By Bill Sullivan, Chicko Motorsports Media
PENNGROVE, CA (3-8-10) - From a modest home based race shop in the small North Bay town of Penngrove, California a lion is ready to awaken from hibernation and release her mighty roar. The roar of a 410 cubic inch powered engine that is.
Its been several months since two time sprint car champion Alissa Geving has been behind the wheel of her Chicko Motorsports #3x sprint car and this week the long winter comes to a close as she will take to the track in Chico, California fore the annual Mini Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway.
"I'm ready to back to it, it's been a long winter and it's time to get back to doing what I love to do," said Geving, as her Tillet Tool-Matt Cordeiro Enterprises-Pit Stop USA sprint car was being prepared for the upcoming race worth some $55,000 in purse money. "I love racing in Chico. Last year we didn't get the opportunity to race in this event and I'm looking forward to it, it's a good way to start off our busy year."
The Mini-Gold Cup begins on Friday with two consecutive days of racing. The event is an open competition race, meaning no championship points are awarded. For this opening weekend it's all about going fast and going for the win. The last event Geving competed in at Silver Dollar Speedway was the 2009 Fall Nationals where she finished 9th in a B-main event after working her way through the ranks on both nights of racing.
"The key to doing well in Chico is qualifying well," said Geving. "When it's your first race of the year you really have make sure the car is ready and your focused to go out there and make the best of those two laps. A good qualifying time can make you or break you in big events like this. If you end up not transferring into the A main or B main from your heat race your going to have your work cut out for you."
During the off season, Geving was far from taking time off. While attending college the Ursuline High School graduate did a great deal of racing career development and self marketing. At the end of the 2009 racing season she appeared on NBC's Late Night with Carson Daly just before she ventured to North Carolina to participate in the NASCAR Diversity Combine program. The adventure was a first for Geving as her prior asphalt racing experience consisted of a 2009 USAC Sprint Car appearance in Roseville, California and underwent some limited testing.
In January, Geving traveled to Tulsa, Oklahoma to compete in the famed Chili Bowl. Driving for Chris Walker and the famed Bay Muffler Racing team, Geving took to the track with some of the nations best drivers in her very first midget racing experience.
The key thing that the trip to the stock car and midget racing mecca's did for Geving, was further prepare her for the 2010 sprint car racing season. Geving has two consecutive Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series track championships to her name as well as rookie of the year titles at Petaluma, Antioch and the traveling Civil War Sprint Car Series. While many drivers would be laying back and polishing their trophies, the young lady known to most simply as "Chicko" is not one to maintain a frail grasp on the big picture. Geving is far from
chalking up her goals in auto racing as complete, in fact she has only just begun.
"I want to win a third consecutive championship at my home track this year, only one other driver has done that," she said. "But I want to focus on winning more races as well. We won the championship last year but I feel we could win more as a team if we really set out sights on it."
Geving will take to the track in Chico on Friday night as qualifying will begin under the lights at 6:30 p.m.on Friday night. Following this much anticipated event she will then begin her quest in the California Sprint Car Civil War Race Series that opens at Placerville Speedway on March 20 then the Silver Cup in Chico the following week before her return to Petaluma Speedway to begin her run at a third championship in the All Pro Series.
If Geving can claim a third title at Petaluma in 2010 she will join the company of David Lindt Jr. who is the only driver to do so. She will then become the first female to ever win three titles at the North Bay track and in the Nation; a record she could maintain for a very long time as this sport continues to be one of male domination and top performing driving female racers are far and few.
"I don't think too much about the records and the history," said the always modest Geving. "But I have to say it would mean a lot to me to join David Lindt with that accomplishment at the track my family has raced at for decades. But my number one goal is to go out and win, with that the points will come. You don't want to get to a point that you let racing for points make you be too conservative. People don't watch conservative drivers follow the leader. No matter what its about the fans."
Alissa Geving and her entire team invite race fans to visit their race hauler following the Mini Gold Cup event and at all events in which they compete. Geving is one competitor who thoroughly loves meeting the fans of all ages and signing autographs. She encourages youngsters to follow their dreams in life while pursuing higher education during their climb to the top.

Geving eyes additional midget experience to busy 2010 racing itinerary
By Bill Sullivan, Chicko Motorsports Media
PENNGROVE, CA (2-7-10) After her first time competing at the famous Chili Bowl in Tulsa, Oklahoma last month, open wheel racer Alissa Geving is will look to add more midget racing opportunities to her schedule in 2010. The Penngrove native is geared up for a busy year of racing ahead racing multiple venues in California both winged and wingless.
"I'm ready to get down to business again," said eighteen-year-old Geving. "The trip to Tulsa was a great experience for me and I hope to have more opportunities such as that in the year to come."
Geving was summoned to Tulsa, Oklahoma just a week prior to the famed indoor midget racing event that draws national attention and some of the best drivers in the world. It was the request of Chris Walker and the Bay Muffler racing team that brought the two time Petaluma Speedway track champion across the states for her first midget racing venue.
"I love it, I really want to thank Chris Walker and everyone from Bay Muffler who made that trip possible," said Geving. "It was my first driving experience all on my own. Normally I have my family and my local sponsors helping me out at the track and this time it was just me. It was kind of scary going into it but I loved it once we got working together."
Geving's Chili Bowl debut put her on the track as early as Tuesday night during race week. In the third heat race of the night. An opening lap accident directly in front of her delayed her charge into the field during the preliminary event, however, she still rallied to the seventh position by the time the checkered flag flew.
Later in the evening the team competed in the C-main event as they begin their attempt for a solid position in the feature events on Saturday night. Starting fourth, Geving maintained her position and transferred into the following B feature where she finished 12th respectively.
"I really have to thank my teammate for the event Scott Pierovich," added Geving. "This was my first time in a midget. Scott really helped me get comfortable with the physics of the car. I really enjoyed the great communication between the whole team."
On Saturday night of the event, Geving was slated to start 6th in the G main event. During practice she had a slight brush with the wall causing minor damage that later resulted in a loss of starting position for the event. While it appeared all was repaired in time for a the race, a battery cable that was jarred loose from the incident and was not discovered until Geving was pushed off for the event and the car failed to fire.
After returning to the work area to make the repair, Geving was able to make the line up for the race but forfeited her starting position in doing so. Starting last in the event, Geving did what she does best and defeated adversity by passing as many cars as possible in the event. Unfortunately the team was unable to transfer into the next event after the opening lap set back.
"It was one of those things we just couldn't overcome, but I had a blast passing as many cars as I could," said Geving. "I'm looking forward to racing additional events with the Bay Muffler team this year."
In 2010 Alissa Geving will compete for a third consecutive championship title in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Sprint Car Series. Additionally the Chick-O-Motorsports team will vie for the 2010 Civil War Sprint Car Series Championship and will also compete in select wingless races throughout the year including the USAC event slated for her home track in Petaluma in June.
"I'm really looking forward to it all, I wish we could start racing right now because I have never felt so motivated," added Geving. "I really want to thank everyone involved for my opportunity in Tulsa including my local sponsors that helped get me there."
Only one other person has claimed three consecutive championships at Petaluma Speedway, local favorite David Lindt Jr. Geving looks to join Lindt in the triple crown status and possible becoming the first female racer nationally to win three consecutive racing championships.
The Petaluma All Pro Series will begin on April 3. The Hoosier Tires Civil War Series is set to being on Saturday, March 20 at Placerville Speedway. Alissa Geving and her Chick-O-Motorsports Team will likely compete at the pre-season Mini Gold Cup and the Silver Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico pending additional sponsorship.

Geving will eye making Petaluma Speedway track history in 2010 campaign
By Sullivan Images Media
PENNGROVE, CA (1-10-10) Anyone who has ever met 18-year old
Alissa Geving of Penngrove, California knows she is an overachiever,
never giving up on her very solid goals. A two time Petaluma Speedway
track champion and a former Civil War Series Rookie of the Year,
Geving will return full time in 2010 to both campaigns and looks make
it her strongest year yet.
"I'm ready to get back behind the wheel," said Geving, as
she prepared for a driver debut in the famed Chili Bowl in Tulsa,
Oklahoma later this week. "Last year we won the championship but
didn't win a lot of races doing it, this year I'm ready to go out and
win more races and a third championship."
Geving has already claimed the title as the youngest female to ever
win a sprint car feature event and duel championships in the nation.
Should the third generation open wheel driver claim a third title in
2010 it will mark another history making year as no man, or woman has
ever claimed three straight sprint car titles at Petaluma Speedway.
"I don't think too much about the records and the history, I
love to race sprint cars and I want to win," said Geving, who has
always maintained great modesty despite the strong media attention she
receives in the male dominated sport. "But I have to say it would
mean a lot to me to make history at Petaluma with a third championship
at the same track my Dad and my Grandfather won on."
Petaluma Speedway is an action packed 3/8 mile dirt track located
in the heart of the Sonoma coastal range and the California Wine
County. The facility hosts some of Californias top talent nearly
every Saturday night from March until October. Last season Geving was
amidst a championship battle for much of the season with fellow local
favorite Bradley Terrell. The two locals raced within single digits
until the final weeks of the season. Terrell suffered a late season
accident that slightly increased the margin and Geving claimed her
title prior to the end of the season.
"We really had a great rivalry going last year," said
Geving. :"It was too bad that Bradley (Terrell) had the crash
with a lapped car so late in the year. It could have very well gone
either way right down to the last night. I didn't think the second one
was going to be so stressful but I found that was. This year we want
to race to win races and with that the points will come
accordingly."
In 2008, Geving claimed the Rookie of the Year title in the
competitive Civil War Sprint Car Series. Last season she raced in a
very limited number of events on the tour and plans a fulltime effort
in the series in the year to come.
The Civil War Sprint Car Series is Californias premier racing
season for 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars. The series competes
annually at more than five different tracks and more some 15 total
events. The campaign draws the best drivers from California and the
Pacific Northwest and is known for its great competition, diversity
and its sell-out crowds at nearly every event on the annual tour.
I love racing with the Civil War Series, we didnt make a
fulltime effort of it last season and I am ready to return to the full
series, said Geving. Petaluma is my home track where my Dad and
my Grandfather raced and I want to continue that tradition not only
for myself for my local fan base and sponsors that have supported me
all along. The Civil War allows us to do just that."
The Petaluma All Pro Series will begin on April 3. The Hoosier
Tires Civil War Series is set to being on Saturday, March 20 at
Placerville Speedway. Alissa Geving and her Chick-O-Motorsports Team
will likely compete at the pre-season Mini Gold Cup and the Silver Cup
at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico pending additional sponsorship.

Alissa Geving seeks sponsorship for solid sprint car season in year to come
Media Contact: Bill Sullivan / sullivanimages@sbcglobal.net
PENNGROVE, CA (11-10-09)- Since she was old enough to walk, Californias Alissa Geving was determined to become a successful race car driver. Now, at 18 years of age, the two time Petaluma Speedway track champion can certainly add the term success to her career profile.
While she has accomplished a great deal in her young career, Geving has decided she isnt finished yet and is seeking opportunities for the 2010 racing season. The talented third generation driver is known for her success behind the wheel of a sprint car and for her ability to draw great media attention all the way to the national level as she since she began racing full sized sprint cars three years ago.
Im very happy with the accomplishments I have achieved in my racing career, said Geving, a fulltime student at Chico State University. But I feel like I am far from finished chasing goals just yet. We are looking for the support to make a strong return to the track for 2010 racing season.
Geving is currently seeking additional sponsorship opportunities for her Chicko Motorsports #3x Sprint Car Team in the racing season to come. Her preliminary racing plans include a fulltime effort in the 2010 Civil War Sprint Car Series as well as another season in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Sprint Car Series.
The Civil War Sprint Car Series is Californias premier racing season for 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars. The series competes annually at more than five different tracks and more than a dozen total events. The campaign draws the best drivers from California and the Pacific Northwest and is known for its great competition, diversity and its sell-out crowds at nearly every event on the annual tour. Petaluma Speedway is an action packed 3/8 mile dirt track located in the heart of the Sonoma coastal range and the California Wine County. The facility hosts some of Californias top talent nearly every Saturday night from March until October.
I love racing with the Civil War Series, we didnt make a fulltime effort of it last season and I am ready to return next year if we can get the financial assistance to do so, we are working on a few different things to put it all together, said Geving, a 2008 Civil War Series Rookie of the Year recipient. Petaluma is my home track where my Dad and my Grandfather raced and I want to continue that tradition not only for myself for my local fan base and sponsors that have supported me all along.
After a successful stint in Outlaw Karts, Geving begin turning heads three years ago when she followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, Leroy Geving and her father, Gary Geving behind the wheel of a winged sprint car at her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway. In 2007 she became the youngest female driver in the nation to win a winged sprint car feature event at just 15-years-old.
One year later Geving took her accolades to the next level when she became the youngest lady competitor to win a winged sprint car championship which she followed up this season with a second such title in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series. Geving also earned the 2008 Rookie of the Year Award in the competitive Civil War Sprint Car Series and earned Rookie honors at both Petaluma Speedway and Antioch Speedway.
In addition to her experience in a winged sprint car, Geving has had great success this past season in wingless competition, including a heat race win and a top finish in a high profile USAC event at her hometown track. She made her asphalt racing debut earlier this summer when she drove for veteran car owner Ted Finkenbinder in a USAC Western States Sprint Car event in Northern California.
Earlier this season, Geving participated in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine event in North Carolina. The event featured 30 of the Nations most talented drivers in a weeklong event where they display their abilities on and off the track to top associates of NASCAR. Geving is already looking forward to a possible return to the annual event next season.
In October of 2010, Geving was the first western sprint car driver to appear on national late night television when she was invited to appear on NBCs Last Call with Carson Daly. The appearance was one of many media opportunities that Geving has had throughout her career. In addition to the popular NBC airing she has appeared in various newspapers, magazines, radio shows and television programs over the last two years.
Among the many media events, Geving has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Circle Track Magazine, DirtVision.com and the FOX Networks Trackside at Infineon Raceway program where she was featured for her success behind the wheel and then invited to return to co-host the review of the movie Speed Racer after its premier. In all of her media opportunities, Geving has represented all of her marketing partners positively and professionally.
Regardless of the venue in which she competes, Geving displays a great deal of sportsmanship and professionalism. These two qualities are highly recognized by the sports highest level and are very crucial when it comes to one day driving a race car for a living. Talking to the fans, thanking her sponsors and communicating with the public to a skill Geving was born with and anyone who chooses to become a part of this driver and her team for the season will not be disappointed in the return they will see for their investment of any level.
Geving is not limited to those interested in becoming a marketing partner for her 2010 Sprint Car team. She too will entertain any opportunities to aquire additional seat time on the asphalt racing circuit from open wheel cars to late models. Such opportunities will well prepare her to apply for a return to the Diversity testing next year and could very well bring a team a good deal of media attention with this young, talented woman behind the wheel.
Im game for any solid opportunity from sponsorship to seat time, said Geving. I love a new challenge and chasing my goals. Im ready for the 2010 racing season, I just need some additional support to chase the goals I will set for myself while representing my team and my sponsors in a positive, professional fashion.

NASCAR Diversity Combine a positive experience for Californias Alissa Geving
- Two-time Petaluma sprint champion seeks to entertain new driving opportunities for 2010
Media Contact: Bill Sullivan / sullivanimages@sbcglobal.net
PENNGROVE, CA (11-1-09)- Alissa Geving returned from the recent NASCAR Diversity Combine event in North Carolina and didnt hit the beach to relax in her native California sun. Instead, the 18-year-old graduate of Ursuline High School went straight back to the books to focus on her studies as a fulltime student at California State University in Chico.
Racing cars is something I want to do and something I would love to do professionally, said Geving. But my education is just as important to me. You have to focus on the big picture in life. Sure I may have been born with the skills to race but what if something happens and I not able to race anymore. You have to have an education, you have to have that safety net.
During her young racing career, Geving maintained a grade point average above 4.0 while maintaining a vigorous racing schedule in open wheel outlaw karts and then sprint cars. Often times she could be found studying in the lounge of her familys race hauler between events, using every moment possible to focus on her schooling.
For Geving, her most recent racing endeavor took her away from school for nearly a week as she traveled to the capitol of American stock car racing, North Carolina, to participate in the 2009 NASCAR Diversity Combine event. Geving was one of very few drivers selected to participate in the event, the first of her racing career.
The Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine brings together some 30 of the countrys top minority and female drivers for two days of on and off track competition. Drivers invited to the Combine are there for one reason - to showcase their skills in front of NASCAR officials, team owners and industry media in an effort to earn a ride with a team in either the NASCAR Camping World Series or the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series.
Combine participants take part in rigorous on-track testing and off-track media training and evaluation. Drive for Diversity affiliated team owners evaluate drivers and, based on performance and fit with their team, will select a driver to compete for them for a full race season.
Areas of competition at the Combine include: On-track assessment, including testing practice, qualifying laps and intermediate runs in a NASCAR Camping World Series stock car, in-car communication between the driver and crew, media and sponsor relations as well as media training and mock-interview sessions. All of the young drivers selected for the combine displayed true talent, which is how they arrived in the event to begin with.
Weve had some very talented drivers over the life of the program and were very proud of the opportunity that NASCAR and the D4D Program has produced for those drivers, said Marcus Jadotte, managing director of public affairs for NASCAR. There is no question in my mind that top to bottom, this is the best group that weve seen.
In the end, ten drivers are selected from the evaluation sessions to become members of the 2009 Drive for Diversity program where they are placed behind the wheel of an actual race car for the entire season. Geving will look ahead to next year for another attempt at making the full program but returned from what can be bannered as an experience of a lifetime.
It was an incredible experience for me, said Geving. Just to be selected was a true honor. I went back there with virtually no asphalt experience in a stock car other then a Late Model test one week before we left. I feel with some additional seat time this season in an asphalt late model that Ill be up to speed if Im selected again next year.
During the event, Gevings on track portions of the program consisted of competition at Lowes Motor Speedway in a Legend car and then in a Late Model stock car at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Virginia. During both sessions Geving used patience, consistency and respect for the equipment she was aboard to make her debut on tracks far larger then she has driven on.
The last thing I wanted to do was go out there and go all out to try to be the fastest and end up crashing, said Geving. Nothing would be gained by that. I would have just torn up someones equipment and been out of the event all together. This was my first time there and Im happy with the way it went.
Now that she has returned home, Geving will focus on her studies and her plans for the 2010 racing season. After claiming her second Petaluma Speedway championship this past season, the third generation driver looks to broaden her racing career in the year to come. She is actively seeking a driving position either with a competitive sprint car team and will entertain an opportunity to increase her asphalt racing experience behind the wheel as well.
Id like to have the opportunity to get more track time under me on the asphalt in the future. As far as my sprint car racing career, I am hoping to have an opportunity to race in the weekly 410 series at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Its close to school and I love racing there. I feel if I had the opportunity to drive there on a weekly basis I would do well throughout the season.
Over the last year, Alissa Geving has been supported by a number of great sponsors. BURBANK, CA (10-9-09)- Throughout her racing career Penngrove native Alissa Geving has drawn a great deal of media attention as she advanced in the sport of the dirt track racing to become the youngest female driver in the nation to win two winged sprint car titles. Now, Gevings success and personality will reach the likes of late night talk show television as a featured guest on NBCs Last Call with Carson Daly.
Now in its ninth season, NBC's "Last Call with Carson Daly" breaks out of the traditional talk show mode by introducing a gritty and innovative documentary style format to late-night television. Host Carson Daly gives audiences a unique perspective -- unlike any other late-night show by getting out of the studio and taking the show on location each night bringing the viewer along on the journey.

The Last Call with Carson Daly show is a trendsetter when it comes to young talent whether it is that of the sports market or the music and entertainment industry. Geving was invited to appear on the show after NBC Representatives were following recent media coverage of her second racing championship and her recent announcement as a candidate for the NASCAR Drive for Diversity. One evening two weeks ago an unexpected email and a phone call to Gevings Public Relations representative Bill Sullivan put NBC in contact with her and the show was on the road immediately.
I was pretty shocked when I got the news, said Geving. When Bill first told me I was going on the Carson Daly show I thought he was just messing with me. When I realized it was for real I immediately got excited and then very nervous at the same time.
Following the contact from NBC, racing footage was put together from the past season and the recent Fall National at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico by veteran videographer Mike Doyle. Doyle was quick to get to work to assemble the race films and connect with NBC affliates to provide a great deal of needed footage to be combined with Gevings interview that took place at NBC Studios today, Friday, October 9.
Mike Doyle was absolutely a dedicated team player in this deal and deserves credit for he has done, said Sullivan. All of us in the industry are in it because we have a passion for the sport and welcome any publicity it receives. This opportunity is not only great for Alissa, its great for Northern California sprint car racing and without Mike Doyles hard work it would not have come together. Hes a true professional.
Following class on Friday morning, Geving flew to Burbank for the taping of the interview and returned home late Friday evening to resume her studies before she prepares for next weeks trip. The experience was one Geving will long remember but is likely just the first of many. She is also scheduled to be the featured subject in an upcoming edition of the Santa Rosa Press Democrat and the Orion Newspaper in Chico.
Todays interview was pretty different and it was a lot of fun, said Geving. They did all the shoot outdoors at NBC which was very cool and upbeat. It was a great experience for me and its good for racing to get the coverage.
Gevings appearance is scheduled to air Thursday, October 15th on NBCs Last Call with Carson Daly. The show airs at 1:35 Pacific Time following late night with Jimmy Fallon. Additional information regarding the show and air times can be found at http://www.nbc.com/Last_Call_with_Carson_Daly.
Following her trip to Burbank, Geving will begin a busy week as she will be traveling to North Carolina to participate in the 2009 Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine presented by Sunoco. The event is scheduled to be held October 18-20.

Geving drives from 14th to sixth in Petaluma Speedway Civil War feature
Media Contact: Bill Sullivan / sullivanimages@sbcglobal.net Photo by Steve LaMothe - stevesracingphotos.com
PETALUMA, CA (9-19-09)- Just two days after learning she was accepted into the 2009 NASCAR Drive to Diversity Combine event next month, two-time Petaluma Speedway champion Alissa Geving of Penngrove, CA returned to her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway for her final appearance here with the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series.
The Penngrove native that is now a resident student at Chico State University returned to her hard charging ways at the track where she has claimed two straight championships to become the youngest female champion nationwide to do so. Despite a set back in qualifying early in the night, Geving rebounded thoughout the night and ended the affair with an impressive sixth place finish when the checkered flag waved.
This was a really good night for us, said Geving. I stayed focused, I was very patient out there and was careful in choosing my lines to get to the front. I really want to thank my whole team for a great car tonight. This was good way to end our season here at home.
In qualifying, Geving timed in 17th overall with a lap time of 13:307 on the Sonoma-Marin 3/8 mile dirt track. She started second in her heat race behind Santa Rosas Klint Simpson whom she passed on the opening lap to take the lead of the 10-lap affair and maintain it all the way to the checkered flag.
I knew after qualifying I had to do well in my heat race, said Geving, who held off Simpson, Myles Bishop and Andy Forsberg for the preliminary win. The last thing I wanted was to have to race in a B-main to make the feature. I got a good line at the green flag and stayed out in front out of trouble.
With the 17th qualifying position, the inversion for the A-feature placed Geving 14th in the line up for the A-feature. Starting deep in the field of a Civil War feature can prove challenging to any top competitor as the 22-entrants in the race are often the best drivers from California and the Pacific Northwest and making the A-feature requires strong performances throughout the evening.
At the waving of the green flag, Geving set her sights on the front of the field and used a perfect combination of patience, aggression and poise to work her way towards the front. By the tenth lap of the 30-lap feature Geving worked her way into the top ten with just six laps complete and gained two more position in the following two circuits.
For the next nine laps Geving chased the California Kid and previous Petaluma winner Kyle Hirst for the sixth position. After carefully choosing her route, Geving shot past Hirst for the position on the 16th lap. At the checkered flag Geving claimed the sixth position behind first time winner Zach Zimmerly, Andy Forsberg, David Lindt Jr., Brad Bumgardner and Mason Moore.
Following Saturdays win, the Chick-O-Motorsports pit area was packed with Petaluma Speedway fans. Most visitors stopped by to wish Geving good fortune in her upcoming NASCAR Diversity Opportunity as well as her next competition, the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals, in Chico October 1, 2 and 3.
Throughout the racing season, Alissa Geving has been supported by a number of great sponsors. Among her 2009 sponsors are Tillett Tool, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Pit Stop USA, and Auto Repairs Unlimited. Additional sponsors include Hushpower by Flowmaster Mufflers, Allstar Performance, A1A Performance Muffler, Rossi Auto Body, Afex Graphics, Simpson Racing Product, 21st Century Health Club, Butler Specialtys, Vanlare Steering Repair, DefNder Neck Restraints, Pro Shocks, DirtHead.com, Molecule Labs, Jeremys Chair Repair, ALC Machine, JW Web Design.
Alissa Geving is accepted into 2009 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine
PENNGROVE, CA
(9-16-09)- All of her childhood life, Alissa Geving dreamed of one thing, becoming a professional race car driver. Wednesday afternoon the 18 year-old North Bay native received a phone call that put her one step closer to following that dream.
The call was from the ultimate leader in the auto racing industry, NASCAR. Officials from the National Association of Stock Car Racing informed Geving that she has officially been accepted into the 2009 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine which begins in mid October.
I was really surprised when they called, said Geving, a freshmen at Chico State University. Becoming a NASCAR driver has always been a dream of mine. Im looking forward to this opportunity and I am excited to get started.
According to the Drive for Diversity management group, Geving was one of twenty-five drivers from throughout the nation invited to attend the 2009 Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine presented by Sunoco. The event is scheduled to be held October 18-20, 2009 at a location to be determined in the coming weeks.
The Drive for Diversity Testing & Evaluation Combine brings together 25 of the countrys top minority and female drivers for two days of on and off track competition.
For Geving, her patience behind the wheel combined with her off track personality make her a prime candidate to one day become a true ambassador to the sport at a national level.
Twenty-five drivers, representing 19 different states and Mexico, were invited to showcase their skills before a panel of 11 established NASCAR team owners for the 2008 Drive for Diversity Combine. Twelve drivers, based on their performance at the Combine, earned the opportunity to compete with a Drive for Diversity affiliated team for the 2009 season. The historic South Boston Speedway in South Boston, Va. has hosted the Testing & Evaluation Combine for the past four years; the Combine has also been held at Motor Mile Speedway in Radford, Va. and Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, N.C.
Drive for Diversity is the industrys leading development program for minority and female drivers and crew members. Managed by The 909 Group, the Drive for Diversity program currently supports drivers in two of NASCARs developmental series - the NASCAR Camping World Series and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series. Drive for Diversity also supports crew member candidates through a year-long pit crew training program. Crew members have gone on to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
Alissa Geving began breaking records two years ago when she followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, Leroy Geving and her father, Gary Geving behind the wheel of a winged sprint car at her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway.
Regardless of the venue in which she competes, Geving displays a great deal of sportsmanship and professionalism. These two qualities are highly recognized by the sports highest level and are very crucial when it comes to one day driving a race car for a living. Talking to the fans, thanking her sponsors and communicating is one area where Geving has virtually no weakness.
"There are young drivers that can drive the wheels off a car and win races. Then there are the ones that great ability to speak in public and represent the sport in a positive fashion, said Bill Sullivan, Public Relations representative for Geving and a select group of drivers. Alissa has both those qualities. You can learn how to drive with a lot of lessons, but personality and professionalism is something that comes naturally. Her spirit and drive will take her far in this sport if she continues to pursue it. This is a huge opportunity for her.
Prior to the upcoming Combine in October, Geving plans to continue driving her family owned sprint car at various late season events including an upcoming Civil War Series race at Petaluma Speedway and likely the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals in Chico. She hopes to have the opportunity to gain additional practice on the asphalt in the coming weeks as well.
Im ready to do this, said Geving. I have a lot of people to thank for getting me where I am at today including my Mom and Dad who have both given me everything I have needed to be competitive and safe. All of my sponsors are very supportive of me and I am thankful for them. Im going to do my best at this and see where it goes.
Throughout the racing season, Alissa Geving has been supported by a number of great sponsors. These individuals not only have supported Geving financially but have shown great support emotionally as well, cheering her on in both good times and bad. Among the many supports are Tillett Tool, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Pit Stop USA, and Auto Repairs Unlimited.

Following Chico visit, Geving is geared up for upcoming World of Outlaws Gold Cup event
By Bill Sullivan
PENNGROVE, CA (8-29-09) Just one week after claiming her second consecutive Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series Sprint Car Championship, Penngoves Alissa Geving is already looking ahead to bigger events in the world of winged sprint car racing. Following a visit to Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico this past weekend, the nations youngest female two-time open wheel champion is ready to join with the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Tour in next weeks Gold Cup Race of Champions.
We came to Chico to gear up for Gold Cup, said Geving, now in her first year as a student at nearby Chico State University. I didnt do as well as I would have liked. The track was really greasy for qualifying and I wasnt use to the banked track. It hurt me in qualifying but once I ran my heat race I figured it out. I think we finally have the 410 sprint car dialed. I want to thank everyone who got the car up to Chico and made this happen. Now I feel ready for the Gold Cup next week.
After appearing on television the day before on the Silver Dollar Minute news program, Geving returned to the famed banked oval track for the first time since early this season. For much of the year the team has focused on the local Petaluma Speedway Championship in a current tough economy and has saved travel costs in doing so to prepare for high caliber events such as next week when the national tour hits California.
Geving was the third driver out for qualifying. The slick track conditions were somewhat unexpected to the 17-year-old who has raced both dirt and pavement this season. Gevings first lap of the night aboard her Tillett Tool, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Pit Stop USA #3x Maxim Sprint Car was a 13:475. Her second circuit netted improvement with a 13:244, placing her 22nd in the field for the evening.
The Chico point race program featured three eight lap heat races which transferred the top five drivers directly in the 25-lap A-main. Geving was in the first heat race of the evening and started dead last in the eighth starting position. By the time the checkered flag waved it was apparent Geving had found her line once again at Silver Dollar. She maneuvered her way up the sixth position to finish just shy of one spot for a direct transfer in the A-main.
In the 12-lap B-feature, Geving started in the seventh place position. She was closing in on sixth place driver Robert Stice and fifth place Stewart Krum in the waning laps of the race but time simply ran out in the event to gain additional positions to advance into the A-main. In the end, the evening provided a good deal of track time and preparation for the upcoming Gold Cup.
Last season, Geving competed in her first ever Gold Cup Race of Champions. In her debut aboard a 360 sprint car, During the Thursday night preliminary event, Geving qualified 44th in the field dominated by 410 cubic inch powered sprint cars. She later finished 3rd in the C-main which placed her in the E-main event for Saturdays Gold Cup Race of Champions Finale where she finished 6th.
This year, Geving looks to be a competitive force and one of very few female racers in the Gold Cup field with a Gary Geving build 410 motor beneath the hood.
The team is seeking additional sponsorship dollars to compete in the upcoming race, one which provides much national attention through television, internet and print media. Anyone interested in partnering with the Chicko Motorsports Team for this event can contact Gary or Melissa Geving at ggeving@aol.com.

Geving Becomes Two-Time Petaluma Speedway All Pro Track Champion
By Bill Sullivan

PETALUMA, CA ( 8-22-09) Seventeen year old Alissa Geving has done it again. The Penngrove resident officially became the 2009 Petaluma Speedway track champion Saturday night for the second consecutive year aboard her family owned Tillett Tool, , Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Pit Stop USA #3X Maxim winged sprint car. With the title, Geving once again makes national history as the youngest repeat winged sprint car champion.
Winning my second championship feels pretty good, said Geving. This year it is what we set to do. We focused mainly on the All Pro Series as I was preparing for college. This year was all about great teamwork. Everyone focused well during the year and as a team we were able to win this championship. I couldnt have done it without all of the great support I have. My job is easy driving the car, its the team and the sponsors that do all the hard work and make this a success.
Throughout the season, Geving was a top runner on the Petaluma dirt track near her hometown. During the entire season she managed top finishes each and every night and never once suffered a DNF during the competitive All Pro Sprint Car championship series. Saturday night she entered the final event with a 65-point advantage over Bradley Terrell and clinched the season title once she took the first green flag of the evening in qualifying.
This was a really a great year, added Geving. Bradley Terrell and I had a great battle for the championship. It was unfortunate he had the crash last week that really set him back in the points going into this final night. I thank him and all of my competitors for a great season of racing.
Saturday night, Geving started the evening much like she has throughout the year, posting the fastest lap of the evening in qualifying with a 13:33 second lap. Geving has been the fast qualifier for the majority of events at Petaluma Speedway in 2009 and is now the current track record holder as well. In heat race action the start saw fellow lady racer Nicole Miller collide into Geving just past the starting line, sending her into the infield with damage for the event.
Returning in the feature event, Geving did what she does best when the cards are down and charged her way through the competitive field for another top five finish. Geving started 13th in the event and used the perfect combination of patience and aggression to work her way through traffic into the front of the field. At the checkered flag she finished in the fifth position.
The heat race incident was unfortunate and put me back pretty far in main, said Geving. But the car was set up perfectly and seemed to be fast wherever I drove it. I have to thank my Dad for all of his hard work and support on this car as well as his ongoing guidance. Now we have two repeat champions in household and thats pretty cool.
Geving will now focus on returning to the 410 sprint car competition for the upcoming World of Outlaws Gold Cup Race of Champions at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico. Geving is seeking additional sponsorship to compete in the event that will draw more than 50,000 race fans over the four day span and a great deal of media coverage. Anyone interested in becoming a sponsor of the Chicko Motorsports Team can contact Gary Geving at ggeving@aol.com or log on to

PETALUMA, CA ( 8-15-09) Defending track champion and current point leader
Alissa Geving of Penngrove, California logged a new entry on her already impressive racing
resume Saturday night. Seventeen year old Geving drove her Tillett Tool, Pit Stop USA,
Matt Cordeiro Enterprises #3X Maxim winged sprint to a new track record at Petaluma
Speedway during qualifying for the second to last event in the 2009 All Pro Sprint Car
Series at the Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds.
This was pretty awesome, a new record, said Geving. I
was super focused when I went out to qualify tonight and the car was set up absolutely
perfect. I knew it was a fast lap because it felt so smooth. When I found out it was the
new record, I was pretty excited.
Geving turned a lap time of 12:378 seconds. The new fast time succeeds the
previous record of 12:394 posted by local competitor Roberto Kirby earlier this season.
Geving has a history of top qualifying runs at her home track but this marks the first
time she has taken the single lap record at the track where her father, Gary Geving, is a
former champion.
Ive had a good teacher when it comes to finding the fast way
around this place, says Geving, who just became a fulltime student at CSU Chico.
My Dad won many races here and he knows how to set up this car perfectly.
Entering Saturdaycompetition, Geving held a 14-point advantage over
her friendly rival Bradley Terrell of Sebastapol in the chase for the 2009 Petaluma
Speedway All Pro championship. Both drivers were faced with their share of challenges
during the evening that kept the many fans they draw to the Petaluma grandstands on the
edge of their seats.
In heat racing, Geving suffered a flat tire which resulted in a sixth
place finish in the preliminary event and later placed her 16th on the starting grid for
the 25-lap feature race. In the money race, Geving wasted no time working her way to the
front of the field and closed in on the top five positions by the 20th lap. Following a
restart Geving advanced again when Terrell fell victim to a damaging crash with a lapped
car, ending his night of competition.
In the closing laps of the race Geving worked her way past Ivan Wordan and
Brent Dothage to take the third position by the time the checkered flag waved to race
winner Brandon Davis. One event remains in the regular Petaluma Speedway All Pro
Championship Series and will take place next Saturday night. On September 25th the track
will host the Civil War Sprint Car Series which will also award five bonus points towards
the weekly championship.
Its too bad that Bradley had the tangle with the lapped
car, said Geving. Were glad he is ok. We have been having a great race
for the championship this year and you never want to see one of your good competitors end
a night like that. Im looking forward to coming back here this next week and racing
with him for the championship.
