ROSEVILLE, CA ( 6-27-09) – Seventeen year-old Alissa Geving made her pavement racing debut last Saturday night with the USAC Western States Sprint cars at All American Speedway in Roseville, California. Driving for veteran car owner Ted Finkenbinder, Geving finished 13th despite an early withdrawal from the 100 lap event due to mechanical difficulties.
In qualifying, Geving clocked the 12th position aboard the competitive Finkenbinder #3F, turning a lap time of 15:45 seconds. In both practice and qualifying Geving was fighting brake complications which were resolved prior to the feature event.
In the feature event she began working her way through the field until the 40th lap when she pulled off the track surface after the steering box overheated, causing discomfort in the cockpit. At the end of the night she finished 13th and was still very happy with the results of her first time behind the wheel of a pavement sprint car.
“I’m ready to do this again, I love it,” said Geving. “We struggled a little in qualifying with the brake issue and I hated to pull off early because I was getting the feel of things but the steering box was burning my leg pretty good. We’ll be back doing this at our soonest opportunity for sure.”
Following Saturday’s event, Geving has a long list of individuals whom she wishes to thank for their assistance with Saturday’s race. The decision to compete in the USAC Event came just one week earlier when Finkenbinder contact Geving and asked her to drive his car in the upcoming event. In an effort to make the race, many individuals and businesses went the extra mile to make it happen.
Topping the list of people Geving wished to recognize are Finkenbinder for giving her the opportunity to drive the car. All of the officials from USAC who offered their guidance upon her debut. A special thanks goes out to Jimmy Riddell, Tony Hunt and Jo Jo Helberg for their assistance as well as MotoWear International for the quick turnaround of new team uniforms for the night and photographer Steve Lamothe for his attendance. Many regular fans and sponsors of Geving made the trip to Roseville and their great support is always appreciated.
“I appreciate everyone who helped with this,” said Geving. “This was a great opportunity for me and I look forward to doing it again very soon. I thank everyone who made this all possible. Now it’s time to go back to the dirt.”
This Friday night Geving will return to her home track of Petaluma Speedway to compete with the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series. Last year Geving finished fifth in the series and claimed the 2008 Rookie of the Year title. Currently, Geving is the point leader of Petaluma Speedway’s All Pro Sprint Car Series.

Geving is “Slicko Chicko” once again; drives to fourth in Petaluma USAC event
More USAC competition ahead for young lady racer this week in Roseville, California

PETALUMA, CA (6-20-09) – Seventeen year-old Alissa Geving lived up to the nickname “Slicko Chicko” given to her by her father when she was a youngster once again on Saturday during at her home track of Petaluma Speedway which hosted the competitive United States Auto Club, Lucas Oil California Racing Association sprint car series.
Competing on a very racy dry slick track, Geving drove to fourth place in the non-wing Western States Sprint car event at the track she calls home. To top it off, the recent Ursuline High School graduate did it aboard a 360 cubic inch powered sprint car in a field packed with much more powerful 410 cubic inch powered sprint cars.
With the Petaluma All Pro Series taking the weekend off, Geving and her Penngrove based Chicko Motorsports team removed the wing from the Tillett Tool, PitStop USA, Matt Cordeirro Enterprises sponsored sprint car and decided to go racing on what was thought to be an off weekend for the 2008 track champion and current All Pro Series point leader.
In he first USAC Lucas Oil event, Geving faired well on Saturday and got the attention of not only her fans that packed the grandstands to watch her race wingless. Geving was acknowledged by the USAC Officials throughout the night following her success. Prior to the feature event, series officials went as far as campaigning throughout the pit area to acquire new rear tires for Geving prior the feature event.
“I was pretty surprised when the USAC officials came over and shook my hand,:” said Geving, who qualified second fast in the program with a time of 14.640 and charged through the field to win her preliminary 10-lap heat race. “We didn’t really plan to run this event at the start of the season, we decided to come out and have some fun
tonight.”
In the 30-lap feature event, Geving drove from the seventh place starting position to fourth place, racing non-wing on a track that became very dry and slick by the end of the night producing a great night of open wheel racing that saw USAC point leader David Cardey take home the win.
“Racing wingless here is so much different than I am use to,” said Geving. “It requires a lot more work as a driver. The car was on the edge of getting loose all night, that’s how it is when you take the wing off and go back to how it was long ago. I was really happy with our finish in our 360 here.”
For Geving, Saturday does not conclude her involvement for the week, this Wednesday night she is a featured guest on Ron Klepper’s USAC Radio Show at
www.RaceFanRadio.com
which airs at 5 p.m on the west coast. During the show, Geving will talk about her Petaluma event as well as her next USAC event this Saturday as she joins the USAC Western States Series at All American Speedway in Roseville.
Saturday night, Geving will strap into the Ted Finkenbinder owned sprint car and take to the asphalt at All American Speedway. Finkenbinder is a veteran Northern California car owner who has fielded very competitive cars for decades in competition including USAC, The World of Outlaws, the Golden State Series and the Civil War Sprint Car Series. The event marks Geving’s first ever appearance with the USAC Western States Sprint Cars on the pavement and her most enduring endeavor, a 100-lap feature event.
“After Petaluma I got a call from Ted (Finkenbinder),” said Geving. “He asked if I would drive his car at Roseville. I am really excited about this race. It’s a new level of experience for me racing on the asphalt.”

Geving returns to her winning ways to take second All Pro feature victory in Petaluma
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (6-13-09) – Seventeen year-old Alissa Geving returned to her winning ways Saturday at her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway. The recent Ursuline High School graduate advanced from mid-field to garner her second All Pro Series feature event of the season and her eighth victory overall in her sprint car racing career that spans a mere three years.
“This was an incredible night for us as team and great night for all the fans and sponsors that support me, “ said Geving. “The track was very competitive tonight, very racey, super fast on the top and tacky on the bottom. It was great.”
Saturday night, Geving took to the well prepared 3/8 mile Petaluma Speedway aboard her family owned Tillett Tool, Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises Maxim Sprint Car in the form of a reigning champion. The superior track conditions made for an exciting round of qualifying for all competitors. Geving turned the second fastest lap of the night behind fellow competitor Roberto Kirby who broke the track record in his efforts with a 12:394 second lap.
In heat racing she chased Nick Ringo Jr. to the line to claim a second place finish and cap the night of preliminary action as a great success prior to the 15-car feature event. In the feature race, Geving started in the eighth position outside of her closest competitor for the 2009 All Pro championship, Bradley Terrell of Sebastopol, Entering Saturday’s competition, Geving held a three-point lead over Terrell and the duo of local high school graduates continued their friendly rivalry into this night as well.
At the waving of the green flag, Geving began driving towards the front of the field. Within two laps Geving gained four positions and one lap later worked into the top three behind leader Art McCarthy Jr. and second place Norm Johns. With seven laps complete Geving overtook Johns for the bridesmaid position and just as she closed the gap between McCarthy and herself she advanced to bride status, taking the lead as McCarthy suffered a blown tire and crashed off the third turn of the race.
For the final 11 laps of the curfew shortened race, Geving drove a flawless race on the track where her father and grandfather were known as two of the winningest drivers in the history of the Sonoma Marin County Fairgrounds track. At the checkered flag she was trailed by Terrell in second place as he made every effort to stay in the hunt for the season title. Following her performance, Geving is unofficially
seven points ahead of Terrell in the campaign towards her second season title.
“When I returned this season I didn’t want to focus so much on the points,” said Geving, who was surrounded by a crowd of supportive fans in the pit area after her victory. “I wanted to win more races. Winning our second race of the year really means a lot. It puts me in the position to begin improving on my record last year and the points come with the top finishes so it all comes together.”
Geving recently graduated with honors from Ursuline High School in Santa Rosa. Among her accolades, Geving was recognized as a lifetime member of the California Scholarship Federation, a member of the Senior Benard Gleason Honor Roll. She received the Scholar Leadership Award. Ursuline High School also recognized for her success in Motorsports including her driving championship in 2008 when she became the first female racing champion at Petaluma Speedway and the youngest such titlist nationwide. Geving also earned the Civil War Sprint Car Series Rookie of the Year title and in 2007 was the Rookie of the Year at both Petaluma and Antioch Speedway. Later this summer Geving will move to Chico, California to attend Chico State University, her school of choice as she hopes to continue her racing career.

Geving unofficially takes Petaluma All Pro Series point lead following third place finish
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (5-30-09) – Defending track champion Alissa Geving of Penngrove returned to her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway Saturday night for the All Pro Sprint Car Series championship campaign. When the night came to a close, Geving had raced her Tillett Tool, Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises Maxim Sprint alongside a veteran driver whom she once watched as a young child. She unofficially took over the point lead in the All Pro Series with a third place feature event finish.
“This was a good night for us,” said Geving. “We had some problems in qualifying but I was able to focus and rally back well. The track was great tonight and I ended the night with a top three finish, I’m happy with all of it.”
In hot laps on Saturday night, Geving recorded the fastest lap of the night with a 13:764 second trip around the always competitive 1/3 mile dirt track located on the scenic Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds. Geving’s top speed in practice was 98.082 miles per hour. Unfortunately, Geving’s high numbers came during practice and during qualifying a malfunction with her steering put her last on the roster with no competitive time being recorded.
“The car was great in hot laps and when I went out for qualifying I had no steering as soon as I took the green,” said Geving. “It set us back in qualifying but my crew did a great job addressing the problem and getting me prepared for the heat race where I was able to make up some lost ground.
In her heat race, Geving started in fifth place and finished the 8-lap affair with a fourth place finish. During the preliminary event her car felt well prepared and ready for the upcoming feature. According to the AMB Electronic scoring system on site, Geving was one of four drivers in the second heat race to break the century mark with a top speed of 100.529 miles per hour.
In the 25 lap feature, Geving started in the eighth position. With five laps in the race, the recent graduate of Ursuline High School that is the youngest female sprint car champion in the nation worked into the top five. Two laps later she advanced into the fourth position and began chasing down former track champion Shawn Arriaga for third.
With 12 laps complete, Geving overtook the third position from Arriaga. Once in the show position, Geving trailed a driver whom she watched race her father race against for many years, Stormin’ Norman Johns of Petaluma. Johns is a 15-time career sprint car winner and raced many events against Gary Geving, who won two track championships during his career at Petaluma Speedway before Alissa took over the driving duties two seasons ago.
“That was pretty neat for me racing with Norm tonight,” added Geving. “He raced against my dad for many year and I remember watching them as a kid with mom in the stands at this place. I grew up in those stands every Saturday night and it was special tonight to be able to run with someone I use watch race against my all time hero every week.”

After third place finish in Petaluma All Pro event, Geving bound for the Calistoga half mile Saturday By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA ( 5-16-09) – For the second straight week, challenging track conditions took its toll on many of Petaluma Speedway’s top competitors Saturday night. Despite the adverse battle field, defending track champion Alissa Geving of Penngrove still managed to end her night with another top five finish in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro point series. Geving finished in third place last Saturday’s feature event.
“I thought the track was tough two weeks ago, this time it was by far the worst I had ever seen it,” said Geving. “There just wasn’t anything to work with for anyone. I just focused on maintaining my position while trying not to damage the car or anyone else’s. I’d like to congratulate my friend Ricky Wright on his first feature win tonight, it was great to seem him make that accomplishment.”
Geving started the evening with the second fastest lap in practice. In qualifying she turned the second quickest lap of the night with a time of 13:158 on the 1/3 mile track located on the Sonoma Marin County Fairground. In the preliminary heat race, Geving drove from the sixth place into third on the fourth lap of the race which is where she remained when the checkered flag waved.
In the 25-lap feature event, Geving started fourth in the field. With three laps complete she advanced into the third position where she battled with Rohnert Park’s Brett Rollag for much of the race . For the remainder of the race Geving settled into the third place position to score another top five victory in her post championship racing season at the track she calls home.
“I’m always tough on myself when I don’t pull off a win, I just feel like I can always do better,” said Geving. ‘But tonight I’m happy with third place. With the track the way it was we were lucky to bring the car home in one piece and we didn’t lose any positions in the point standings.”
Following Saturday’s event, Geving remains second in the 2009 Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series. This weekend, Petaluma Speedway will be dark for the winged sprint cars as the Golden State Challenge Series is competing at nearby Calistoga Speedway. Geving will be in competition on Saturday night at the famed half mile speedway. On Sunday, she will be absent to join the commencement ceremony at Ursuline High School in Santa Rosa where she will graduate with honors. Following graduation, Geving plans on beginning her college career at Chico State University and hopes to continue racing sprint cars on Friday nights at nearby Silver Dollar Speedway and various events throughout the state.
“You know I’d could pass on this whole graduation thing to race at Calistoga, I love that place,” mused Geving. “But graduation is important and this is one time I don’t think I can get away with being a no show. My school has been very supportive of my racing career all through high school and for that I am very thankful. Stoga and graduation, this is a special weekend or us.”

Geving overcomes adverse track conditions to pull off top three finish in All Pro feature event
By Bill Sullivan PETALUMA, CA (5-09-09) – When Alissa Geving becomes old enough to purchase a lottery ticket in September, chances are her first one will be a winner because the teenage lady racer from Penngrove has a way of succeeding even when the odds are very high. Saturday night, Geving was one of 19 cars who faced a tough hand at Petaluma Speedway in the way of a challenging track. In the end, the defending champion earned her third top five finish of the season.
“I had to focus really well all night long in this one because the track was very odd, to say the least,” said Geving. “It was very rough, each corner was very different from the others and it was really not the way it usually is. Cars were bouncing all over the place all night long.”
Geving’s car was no exception when it came to being tossed around during Saturday night’s mechanical rodeo. The soon to be Ursuline High School Graduate held on to the reigns of her Tillet Tool Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, #3x Maxim Sprint Car long enough in qualifying to earn the 10th position with a 13:363 second lap. Her speed during qualifying reached 99.040 miles per hour, according to the AMB electronic scoring system.
In the preliminary heat racing, Geving drove from her third place starting position into second place at the waving of the green flag. After pursuing Nick Ringo Jr., Geving went to the low side of turn four to take the lead she never relinquished for the remainder of the event.
“In qualifying the track wasn’t too bad but by the time we were racing in the heat race I knew we all had our work cut out for us later in the night,” said Geving. “I just really focused on my line and tried to avoid to problem spots and let the race come to me all night long. It was all you could really do because if you got over aggressive your night would definitely come to a quick end.”
In the 25-lap feature event, Geving started ninth in the field. By the time the race reached the fifth lap mark she had closed in on the top five and two laps later took over the fifth position with her next mission being a run into the top three. Twelve laps later, Geving reached that second goal of the night.
Saturday’s race was led early by Ricky Wright Junior, who fell victim to the rough track when he stalled on the 18th lap and eventual winner Bradley Terrell took over the lead spot with Shawn Ariagga in second place. Geving has moved up into the fourth position of the event when Wright fell out of contention. In the final laps of the race she held off a hard charging Brandon Davis for the top three spot.
“I’m really happy with how tonight turned out,” added Geving. “Everyone worked hard and stayed focused and it paid off. Sure a win would be great but on a track like this a top three feels really good. I want to congratulate Bradley Terrell and Jim Vanlare on their second win of the year too.”
Geving will return to Petaluma Speedway this Saturday night for the All Pro Sprint Car championship. On May 23rd she is expected to appear with the Golden State Challenge Series at Calistoga Speedway for one of the two nights of competition. On Sunday, May 24 the 17-year old student that maintains a higher that 4.0 grade average will graduate from Ursuline High School. She has recently announced she will attend Chico University and hopes to compete on Friday nights at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico.

Geving returns to Petaluma Speedway victory lane in bizarre second All Pro Series point race
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (4-25-09) – Following a series of confusing events, Penngrove’s Alissa Geving returned to victory lane at Petaluma Speedway Saturday night. Geving drove the Tillet Tool Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, #3x sprint car to victory during round two of the All Pro Sprint Car Series, marking her second top five finish of the series in as many events in the campaign.
“I’m glad things finally turned around for us,” said Geving. “We still had our share of challenges tonight. The car was not handling like I prefer but I made it work. I would have been happy with a top three finish but I ended up being in the right place at the right time near the end and ended up with our first win of the season.”
After finishing fourth in her heat race, Geving started the 25-lap feature event in the third position. Fighting an ill handling car on a tacky, hooked up 1/3 mile track, Geving maintained her top three position for the majority of the event, trailing early race leader and series point leader Bradley Terrell and Jeremy Burt who led the first 16 laps of the event.
It was on lap 22 of the event that things drastically changed for the top three drivers, including Geving. As Burt drove into the fourth turn his front suspension failed, sending him upside and down while Geving moved into second place behind Terrell. During the incident, the race never underwent a rd flag, however, a yellow flag was thrown to remove Burt’s damaged car from the track.
During the lengthy caution period, Terrell suffered a flat tire and track officials waved the black flag, not withdrawing prior to Geving passing by. A driver who pays close attention to safety, Geving did as directed. As Geving pulled off the track surface she was immediately summoned by track officials to keep moving and return to the track as they had mistakenly failed to reel in the black flag in time.
“When I saw the black flag I thought two different things,” said Geving. “Last week my crew had them wave it for a safety issue so I figured there was something wrong with the car that I was not aware of. My second thought was that they called the race as it was so late. I just made sure I followed the rules and did what I was directed to do and pulled off. Right away they waved me back on and I never stopped. The officials took full responsibility for the mistake but it really broke my concentration for those final laps.”
Although she went back to green flag racing somewhat miffed by the forced excursion though the pit area, Geving managed to dominate the final four laps of the race to pick off her first victory of the 2009 All Pro Series championship. The win was somewhat shadowed by a negative response from fans regarding the controversial black flag incident as most we not informed it was an admitted error by the track officials and was corrected respectfully so.
Geving will take a one week break from racing to attend her Ursuline High School Senior Prom next weekend. The Petaluma All Pro Series returns on May 9. Prior to that event, Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Teams will announce their schedule for the remainder of the 2009 racing season.

Geving a victim of circumstance in Golden State Challenge Petaluma
feature event
By
Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (4-18-09) – A night that started off strong, ended with
some disappointment for Penngrove’s Alissa Geving at Petaluma Speedway
Saturday night. Geving was competing on her home track with the Golden
State Challenge Sprint Car Series, California’s premier traveling
campaign for 410 cubic inch powered sprint cars. After a three week long
sting of bad luck, the night looked as if it would be a strong one for
the defending Petaluma Speedway All Pro champion. Before the end of the
night, the wind of ill luck blew in the direction of the Chicko
Motorsports Team for one more week.
“We had everything going for us
tonight,” said Geving. “I was really focused, my crew was just as
focused and the car was perfect. I couldn’t avoid the accident in front
of me when it happened. My crew did a great job trying to get me back
out there. I guess we were just meant to have another week of hard luck.
We’ll fight back and overcome this for sure.”
In qualifying, Geving drove her 410 powered Tillet Tool , Pit Stop
USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, #3X Maxim Sprint car to the 16th
position with a 13:091 second lap. In the preliminary 10-lap heat races
she drove to a second place finish to lock a starting position in the
30-lap A-feature.
“I was really happy with the car early in the night,” added Geving.
“It felt good in qualifying and the heat race, I was really confident we
were on our way to a top finish in the A-feature to turn our luck
around.”
Geving started 13th in the A-feature. As the green flag waved she was
collected in a multi-car collision that brought the race to a pause
before it ever had the chance to even get going. The collision caused
moderate damage to the Gary Geving powered #3x, however, the Chicko
Motorsports crew went to work quickly to make repairs.
Returning to the track while the race was still under caution,
concern developed that the repairs to Geving’s car were not 100 percent
completed. The crew requested that officials wave a black flag to direct
her back to the work area for a final inspection. Once Geving returned
to the pit area, the green flag waved and the race started without one
of the tracks most popular drivers.
“I was really bummed about the whole thing, but they felt something
may have been overlooked and were concerned for my safety,” said Geving.
“In this sport safety is your number one priority so I can’t be upset
about that. I just wish we could have had a little more time on our side
to take care of the issue.”
This Saturday, Geving returns to Petaluma Speedway for the second
round of the 2009 All Pro Sprint Car Series. Geving is currently fifth
in the series point standings at the track where her father and
grandfather both claimed titles.
Alissa Geving is an Ursuline High School Senior that became the
youngest female to claim a sprint car championship in the nation last
season the Rookie of the Year award in the Civil War Series. Later this
summer she plans to continue her racing career while attending Chico

Mechanical failure and
heat race crash thwart Geving’s hopes for top finish in Civil War opener
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (4-11-09) – Often times when an athlete reaches a level of
notable accomplishment, the following season can be haunted by its share
of hardships. For 17-year-old Alissa Geving, such a theory could be
conceived as of late. One year after making national history in the
world of sprint car racing, Geving is undergoing a streak of what can
only be summed up as a stint of hard luck.
Saturday night the 2008 Petaluma Speedway All Pro Sprint Car Champion
returned to her home town track to begin the 2009 Hoosier Tires Civil
War Series championship. After turning good times in hot laps. Geving
took to the track for qualifying and turned a 13:241 second lap on a
night where competitors were given a single lap for qualifying. Her
effort scored her the 8th place position on the roster out of 38
entrants; the night was beginning to look good for the 2008 series
Rookie of the Year.
Starting in the fifth position of the fourth heat race, the evening’s
strong beginning rapidly weakened for Geving. Entering the turn,
Geving’s Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Tillet Tool #3X Maxim
Sprint fell victim to a separated “w-link,” sending her hard into the
wall which ended her night of competition. The “w-link” is located in
the rear of an open wheel sprint car and secures the rear axle from
moving side to side during competition. When the unit fails or becomes
disconnected it can cause the car to react erratically and go out of

“Our night started off with high hopes tonight, getting a top ten
qualifying position was a great start for a Civil War race,” said
Geving, who was uninjured but sore from the crash the following morning.
“But with the heat race came the accident and a lot of frustration. I
just hope we can come back here next week with those same high spirits
and better results in the end.”
This Saturday night Geving will return to Petaluma Speedway for
another exciting sprint car series, the Golden State Challenge Sprint
Car Series. The event features 410 cubic inch powered sprint cars and
some of the state’s most talented open wheel drivers behind the wheel.
“I’m looking forward to the Golden State Challenge coming back here,”
added Geving. “Running this series is something I would love to do
fulltime one day. It’s the best drivers in the sport and racing a 410 is
awesome, I love it.”
If anyone can overcome challenges it’s Alissa Geving. In 2008 the
Ursuline High School Senior became the youngest female to claim a sprint
car championship in the nation with her All Pro Petaluma Speedway sprint
car title. She backed it up with the Rookie of the Year award in the
Civil War Series. With Geving’s constant optimism backed by a crew who
has the true experience to rebound and overcome adversity there is no
doubt the popular #3x sprint car will be charging towards the front this
Saturday night on the Petaluma Speedway 3/8 mile track on the
Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds.

Geving heads to the battle line for Civil War Series opener in Petaluma
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (4-7-09) –Penngrove’s Alissa Geving, the defending Petaluma
Speedway track champion, is ready to take drive her family owned Pit
Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Tillet Tool #3x sprint car into the
battle zone this Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway. Geving will be
competing in the 2009 season opener for the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil
War Sprint Car Series.
“I’m looking forward to getting back on track with the Civil War
Series,”said Geving. “Last year we did very well in this series and I
made a lot of great friends in the sport. I can’t wait to race side by
side with some of them again this weekend.”
Last week Geving raced at nearby Antioch Speedway with the Golden State
Challenge Sprint Cars. The night ended early after a collision in the B
main caused damage to her Maxim Sprint Car in the B-main event. Two
weeks ago she began her season by working her way into the top five
point standings early in the year with a fifth place finish in the first
round of the Petaluma Speedway All Pro sprint car series.
Saturday will mark the first of 13 Civil War Sprint Car Series events in
the region and will be one of three events at Geving’s home track of
Petaluma Speedway during the tour. Last year Geving did well in her
first full run with the series, scoring a top five finish in the point
standings and claiming the Rookie of the Year title. This year the
hometown girl that will graduate from Ursline High School in May isn’t
focusing on the point standings, instead she is focusing on winning
races.
“Last year a top five finish and the Rookie of the Year in Civil War
along with the track title were both goals I set for myself,” said
Geving. “But I was not happy with the number of races I won during the
year. I am not going get worried about the points so much. If we finish
well, the points will take care of themselves. I want to be running up
front more often.”
Following Saturday’s Civil War event, Geving will resume competition in
the Petaluma Speedway All Pro series on April 18. Geving’s father, Gary
Geving was a three time track champion of Petaluma Speedway. As Geving
focuses on more feature wins this year, a second championship title
could very well become reality.

Geving garners top five finish in Petaluma Speedway All Pro opener
despite impaired vision
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA, CA (3-28-09) – Defending Petaluma Speedway All Pro sprint car
champion Alissa Geving, 17, of Penngrove returned to the driver’s seat
of her family owned Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Tillet Tool
#3x sprint car Saturday night at the track where she made history last
year, Petaluma Speedway. Despite impaired vision late in the running of
the A feature, Geving started her 2009 racing season off with a top five
finish.
“We had a fast car tonight, I was feeling pretty good about everything,”
said Geving. “I had an issue with my tear off’s not working correctly
after we started the A-main and with few cautions it was just something
I had to deal with. It was very hard to see late in the race.”
Geving started her season opener off with the fourth fastest lap in
qualifying with a 12:96 second lap on the 3/8 mile dirt oval that was
rough and heavy in the early stages of the night. In her heat race, she
started in the third position. The opening green flag saw a traffic jam
break out in front of the third generation driver which forced positions
second through fifth to check up momentarily. In very little time at
all, Geving rallied back to chase down Jeremy Burt for the third
position on the fourth lap and overtake second place runner Nick Ringo
Jr. one lap later where she would finish respectively.
In the 20-lap feature event, Geving started in the seventh position and
advanced into the top five early in the race. The malfunction of her
tear offs on her visor hampered her vision for the remainder of the race
which had just one yellow flag during the third lap. At the checkered
flag Geving claimed a solid 5th place run to begin another title run at
the speedway where both her father and grandfather won multiple titles.
“I did my best out there tonight, the last thing I wanted to do was pull
off the track,” said Geving. “It was frustrating but I’m happy with the
fifth place finish in the end.”
Next Saturday, Petaluma Speedway’s All Pro sprint car series will take a
one week hiatus. Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Team are bound for
nearby Antioch Speedway to compete in the Golden State Challenge Sprint
Car Series. The series features California’s best 410 cubic inch powered
sprint car teams.
“I would love to run the entire Golden State Series,” added Geving. “But
with the economy in the state it is acquiring that kind of sponsorship
just wasn’t possible this year. We will race as many of them as we can
as time allows. I love racing my 410.”
Alissa Geving’s title sponsors include Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro
Enterprises, Tillett Tool and Auto Repairs Unlimited. Additional
sponsors include Flowmaster Mufflers, Allstar Performance, A1A

Alissa Geving to begin defense of Petaluma Speedway All Pro title
this Saturday night
By Bill Sullivan
PETALUMA,
CA (3-23-09) – 17-year-old Alissa Geving will begin to defend her All
Pro Winged Sprint Car Championship title this Saturday night at the
track she calls home, the 3/8 mile Petaluma Speedway located on the
Sonoma-Marin County Fairgrounds in Petaluma. Geving made history last
season when she became the youngest female racer Nationwide to capture a
winged sprint car title at just 16 years of age. This year she’s focused
on one thing, winning races.
“Last year I met my ultimate goal of winning a championship,” said
Geving, who’s father, Gary Geving, was a three time champion at Petaluma
after her grandfather Leroy “Go Get ‘Em” Geving began the family
tradition of winning championships. “But I wished I had won more races
during the year. This year I want to focus on winning more races and
with that the points will come that could lead me to another
championship title.”
Geving will pilot the Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises, Tillet
Tool #3X Maxim Sprint car for the 2009 campaign. Geving also hopes to
compete in select events with both the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car
Series and the Civil War Sprint Car Series and will test privately in an
asphalt SRL Late Model during the year.
“Over the off season we discussed racing the entire Golden State Series
and that’s something I would love to do,” said Geving. “But with the
current economy the funds just are not there to travel that much and
supporting my local sponsors is very important. If additional
sponsorship comes along its definitely something I want to do. We will
compete in several Golden State events as our schedule allows though,”
In 2008 Geving led the point standings at Petaluma Speedway for much of
the season and finished in the top five nearly every single night. The
local fan favorite won two feature events during her campaign. At the
completion of the 2008 Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series championship
campaign, Geving claimed the season title just two weeks shy of her 17th
birthday by 84- points over veteran driver and former champion Art
McCarthy of San Jose. During the year she claimed eight top five
finishes in eleven races and was a feature winner on her hometown track
a total of two times.
Two years ago, Geving became the youngest female worldwide to win a
feature event in a full sized sprint car. In addition to the track
championship, Geving also claimed the 2008 Rookie of the Year Award in
the traveling Civil War Sprint Car Series. This is Geving’s Senior year
at Ursuline High School where she is an honor student, boasting a grade
average above 4.0. During the off season, Geving and her fellow students
traveled to New Orleans in the reconstruction of homes destroyed by
Hurricane Katrina and spent time visiting with local children that were
affected by the tragedy.
Geving has recently acquired the sponsorship of dirthead.com. As a
premier Dirt Head driver, Geving’s merchandise is now available on the
product site. Race fans can visit

graphics.

Penngrove’s Alissa Geving ready to begin 2009 Northern California
Sprint Car Racing Season
PETALUMA,
CA (3-19-09) – One year ago she set her sights on her first sprint car
championship title and now, 17-year-old Alissa Geving is ready to do it
all over again. The third generation open wheel champion from Penngrove
is geared up to start the 2009 Northern California racing season. While
Geving will focus on several different venues in the months to come, one
of them will be defending her championship title at Petaluma Speedway
where she made history last year.
“At this point I plan to focus most of my efforts on the All Pro Series
close to home, said Geving. “I would truly love to race full time with
the Golden State Challenge or the Civil War Series but times are hard
for everyone and it looks like we will stay fairly close to home to
start out at least.”
Geving will climb behind the wheel of here Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro
Enterprises, Tillet Tool sponsored Maxim Sprint car for the first time
this weekend when the traveling Civil War Sprint Car Series opens the
2009 season at Placerville Speedway in El Dorado County. While
Placerville has not necessarily been kind to Geving, she looks forward
to putting the pedal to medal to being another season.
“We’ve just had some tough luck at Placerville in the past year,” said
Geving. “But I’m hoping to turn that around. We are not too sure if we
will be racing the entire Civil War Series this year or not so this race
is an opportunity to get some seat time and get rolling. Hopefully I can
do well and change my luck up there a bit. I love the track and all the
fans they have, I’ve just had some tough breaks there is all but I’ve
learned a lot from them.”
Following the Placerville Speedway Civil War Opener, Geving will begin
her 2009 season at Petaluma Speedway on Saturday, March 28. Her Chick-O-Motorports
team hopes to compete in the upcoming Golden State Challenge Series
event at Antioch Speedway on April 4th. Midway through the season Geving
will juggle her racing career with full time college with the exact
location having yet to be announced.
“I really want to make a career in racing, that’s my ultimate dream,”
said Geving. “But anything can happen and life can change suddenly. I
think a higher education is extremely important for everyone my age
especially in today’s economy. I have no doubts about going to school
and racing, it will be hard work but I am ready for it.”
In addition to returning to the seat of her family owned sprint car,
Geving is scheduled to participate in several testing sessions during
this early part of the season aboard an SRL Late Model Stock car. She
and her team look forward to this opportunity to broaden her racing
career in the years to come. The date and the location of the testing
sessions have yet to be announced.
