September 1st 2007 Non Wing Petaluma
Alissa already has finished her season at Petaluma Speedway finishing 6th in the points
with 2 feature wins and earning Rookie of the year honors. So now she has decided to try
out some other adventures. A wingless race at Petaluma Speedway would be her first choice.
This would be a new experience for Alissa. Crew Chief Gary (Dad) would work all week to
try and set up her Big Max Maxim chassis for this special non wing race. Not really having
much experience in this type of racing Gary would do his best to give Alissa a safe and
well handling car. Hot laps Alissa would decide she didn't really like the race car. So
the team would make some changes making the car a little better but still not to her
liking. Heat race would time would put Alissa starting front row outside. Alissa would
follow the pole sitter into turn 1 & 2. Getting a handle on the car would be Alissa's
concern over trying to win the race. Her first time in a wingless race would put her in a
disadvantage since she was the only one in the 22 car field who had never run a wingless
race. Alissa would run 2nd until the leader would slide up a bit leaving the door open for
her to take the lead in turn 3 & 4. Then the leader would get her back with another
car also on her tail. Alissa would hold her line having another car climb the rear of her
left tire. Alissa would come around the track under yellow not knowing why the other car
was out on the track yelling at her. Alissa would restart the race in 2nd. Coming around
for the white flag Alissa would take the lead winning her first wingless 360 heat race.
" I didn't even feel the hit. I think he must have gone over my tire". Alissa
being so upset that the driver was upset with her she didn't get to enjoy the fact that
she had just won the heat race. Main event time would come with Alissa starting 12th.
Alissa would run more and more confident with a car that wasn't set-up to her Crew Chiefs
standards. "I don't like to send her out with a car that is wrong. I know she will
make the best of it but I feel bad when I let her down" Says crew chief Gary Geving.
" We came here to get laps and she proved to me that she can handle anything. I had
the car set-up to a safe mode because it was her first time in a wingless race" I
should have done things different but I think I learned a lot myself tonight."
Over-all the Chick-o-motorsports team would be extremely happy with Alissa's 6th place
finish. "No matter how ill handling the car is Alissa will drive it until the end.
That girl will not pull off for anything. She is out there learning so much every week. We
are so proud of her." Alissa enjoyed watching the World of Outlaws on Sunday at
Calistoga Speedway. Thank you to Bobby Gerald for the great interview. Alissa wishes to be
running the Gold Cup this weekend at Silver Dollar Speedway. "That is one of my
favorite tracks and I wish I could be there. I am not old enough to run with the Outlaws.
I won't be 16 until Thursday. It might be too close. I will try for next year since my
school is very important also. I will use my sick days from school to run the trophy cup
at Tulare. I am really looking forward to that race." Alissa will celebrate her 16th
Birthday on Thursday September 6th. You can catch Alissa at Petaluma Speedway on September
15th for the Civil War race. Don't forget to get the current issue of Sports Illustrated
to see Alissa in "Faces in the crowd" Page 44...........
Final point race...... August 25th 2007
After taking advantage of a couple of weeks off from her regular race schedule Alissa
would have fun running different tracks. Placerville would be one of those
tracks. Alissa would be very excited to try the small Bull-ring track. After
running there once before she was determined to do better this time. Alissa would go
out for qualifying not aware of the broken shock dangling from her front end. This
would land Alissa a qualifying time that would put her starting towards the back of her
heat race. There were a lot of good drivers in the race and she would miss the
transfer by 1 spot. Alissa would then run the B main to finish 8. She would miss the
transfer to the A by 2 spots. That was a good night at Placerville though
because we got experience and loaded the car up in the trailer. The next
week they would take the journey over to Calistoga speedway. Alissa has been
going to Calistoga since she was a baby but her parents would be very nervous about
letting their 15 year old little girl lose at the 1/2 mile track. Alissa would
show total confidence in hot laps and even more confidence in qualifying. Her first
time to the track she would qualify 10th fast. Alissa would end up winning the B
main and finishing 9th in the main event. That was a huge confidence boost for
Alissa. She felt very comfortable and made some awesome passes in this tough Civil
War race. " The top was the place to make the passes. It was like a big
Cycleland to me" Cycleland being the track where she would run her 500cc
go-kart the season before. Then it would be back to Petaluma the next week.
Alissa's buddy Kyle Larson would make it over for a race. Alissa would do great this
week qualifying fast time out of 22 cars. Starting last in her heat race Alissa
would pass one car to finish 4th. Finishing 4th out of her heat would get her time
back for the main. Being fast time Alissa would pick the pill for the line-up for
the A main event. Alissa would pick a 6 which would land her the 3rd row of the
race. After 3 laps of dealing with a way too hooked up car Alissa would come out of
turn 4 trying to deal a wheelie that wouldn't stop. That wheelie would turn into a
flip that would end her night. A bad night of racing but Alissa's buddy Kyle would
end up with the win for the night. Then finally the last points race of the
season would come and it would pay off for Alissa. Going into the night Alissa was
sick with a cold but it wouldn't keep her down. Alissa would feel very crummy but
would land a 6th fast qualifying time. Starting last in her heat she would charge to
the front. Passing all cars to get to second Alissa would be disappointed at the end
to find out that that she had been set back 2 spots for rough driving. Fast
time qualifier Bradley Terrell would then pick an 8 which would land Alissa 2nd row inside
for the A main event. Alissa would run 5th trying with all she had to get to the
front. Alissa used all her patience and would finally make the final pass for 1st on
the 7th lap. The next 18 laps would show the talent of a smooth driver going through
lapped traffic on a dry slick track. It was a dry track where you needed to hit
your marks and run the bottom. Alissa had the bottom figured out to her
advantage. Crew chief and dad Gary Geving would be the proudest of all.
"She ran the bottom in 3 and 4 so perfect. I cannot believe how well she
figured out that track. I hope we are this fast for the non-wing race!! Gary
being a 4 time champion himself sees a lot of talent in his 15 year old little girl.
We are having the time of our lives right now! Gary would say. Alissa
would finish out her season at Petaluma with 5 top 3 finishes and 2 wins. She would also
become the youngest female to ever win a winged sprint car race. Alissa would end up
with Rookie of the year honors. The Chick-o-Motorsports team is very proud of
Alissa in her first year in Sprint cars. This has been the greatest year!!! Thank
you to everyone who has made the racing possible for the 3x team!!!
Petaluma Speedway point race #8 July, 28th 2007
The night would start out great!!! Alissa was returning after her last race with
a win. Totally excited and confident Alissa would focus on maybe another win?
At least a top 5 will be good. Alissa would say. "I am 4th in points and
feeling so comfortable in my car" Nobody would ever imagine that Alissa would be this
awesome her first year. She is a rookie. We are all having such a blast with
her." "Alissa is happy, talented and smart. What else could we ask
for? Said crew chief Gary Geving. This has been the funnest season.
"
Alissa would qualify her fastest time of the year in qualifying. "finally in
the 12 seconds" Alissa would exclaim!! That would put Alissa last row of
her heat race. At first the team was worried that maybe she wouldn't make it out of
her heat. Not knowing that her head sock had slipped over her eyes she could not
see. On the first start Alissa would climb the wheel of another car.
"what is she doing? Yelled her crew chief and dad Gary Geving. She would
only run last spot until she would catch another car only to climb his wheel also.
So frustrated, Dad would be very disappointed. Then a yellow would come out from a
spin in turn 1& 2. Then all of a sudden Alissa would come alive even though her
head sock was constricting her view. Alissa would drive it in hard in 1 & 2 and
pass 1 car. Then going into the next turn she would pass the rest of
them. "Wow, way to go the team would say" Alissa would then
win her first heat race of the season. Next would be the dash........ Alissa
would start 3rd in a 4 car fast dash. Alissa would pass fast time qualifier Bradley
Terrell for a 3rd place finish. Way to go Alissa........... Main event time
would land Alissa a front row outside starting position. The first start of the main
would get called for the poll starter jumping. Hoping the next
start would be good Alissa knew she didn't want to get thrown to the back for a bad
start. Alissa would get a great start this time leading the pack into the
turn. Alissa would then lead for the next 16 laps......... In and out of
traffic. "That is something you can't teach someone" The way
she goes through traffic" Wow" People would comment after the
race. But unfortunately after 16 laps the lap traffic would end her night.
" I tried to go low to avoid the spinning out car. It just wasn't my night to
win". The team (Chris, Kevin, Al and Gary) would receive so much help
from so many people to try and get her back on the track. It was amazing how much
help came to the team. Not enough time would end her night. Alissa was very
disappointed about her night. But she was the first one to go over to Terrell's
team to congratulate them. The team would be very proud of Alissa'
sportsmanship. Alissa has been a great kid this year. Being a female in
Motorsports is tough. But we think Alissa is handling it great!!!
July 21 2007 Civil War Petaluma
After Alissa's perfect night the week before she knew she could have a shot at the Civil
War race at her home track. Alissa would be so focused to qualify good and get a
good start for the race. 42 cars would show up to the 3/8 hooked up fast
track. Alissa would not get so lucky after tons of water was added to the
track. She picked a low number for qualifying order which would make it tough.
Her worst time of the year 13.755 would land Alissa 15th fast. The track was so
greasy. "If they would have had maybe 1 more round of hotlaps it would have
been a lot better. The track kept getting faster throughout
qualifying." said Alissa. Well she would have a pretty good shot to
transfer out of her heat race because they would take 4 to the A and she would start 2nd
row outside. So now Alissa would focus on transferring from her heat
race. That would all be ended on the first lap of the race when another
car would jump the start from the row behind her. Coming out of turn 2 Alissa would
be sent into another car causing her to flip. Alissa would come back on
the hook. Too bad for Alissa but she would be determined to come back for
a final chance to make the main from the B main event. Alissa's crew would
work to get her back on the track. Starting 5th row outside Alissa would have to
pass only 4 cars to make the transfer. The first lap a car would get into the
wall causing a yellow. Then there would be a complete re-start so Alissa would try
again to get a good start. Then coming into turn 1 from the green flag the car next
to her would get into her causing her to bounce and causing another car (Jimmy
Vanlare) to flip violently out of the track. It would be Alissa's dear friend
who ended up out of the park. Jimmy would end up flipping so hard that his helmet
cracked and he was knocked out for around 4 1/2 minutes. Luckily after being
taken by ambulance to a Petaluma hospital Jimmy would be OK. A
Concussion and a little dizzy Jimmy would rest in the hospital before being
released. "Jimmy Came by the house today and I am so glad that he is OK. I
was very worried about him during that time of his crash and I am just glad that he is
OK." Alissa would say.
After the Ambulance came and took Jimmy to the hospital the B main
event would resume. Alissa would get by another car and she would make the
transfer to the A. Unfortunately though her motor wasn't running right and she would
notice a big lack of power. "It just wasn't running like it was last
week. I know there is something wrong" She would tell her crew. Crew
chief Gary (dad) would notice the motor making a weird noise during the race and
knew right away that there was problem. Not having enough time to really investigate
the problem Gary would send her out to to start the A main. Before
the green would come out Alissa would pull off the track knowing that there was
something definitely wrong. " My dad worked so hard on this motor. I
wasn't going to go out there and blow it up. I knew something was wrong
so I pulled off." Dad would be proud that Alissa would notice the problem
and pull off. After checking the motor Gary and crew would realize
that one of the injector linkages would loosen itself causing the injectors to
unsynchronize each other. Thus causing a big power loss. "I am just
glad it didn't happen last week when I was winning! It's not
anything my dad can't fix. So we will fix it and maybe next Civil War race
I will do better. I am just glad that Jimmy is ok and my car didn't get
wrecked that bad in the heat race.
Alissa would like to thank all of her fans and sponsors for being there
every week. It takes a lot of work from a lot of people to get this going every
week. Thank you to everyone for your support.

Petaluma Speedway Points race # 7 July 14, 2007
After dad worked for endless hours in the garage on a new motor so
we would have a back-up motor we didn't know how it would work out. Alissa
would come home after spending a relaxing week in Tahoe with family to gear up for the 7th
point race. She had mixed feelings about giving up her other motor which seemed to
work just fine. But the motor had 14 races on it so crew chief Gary Geving would
switch them on her. Right away she complained after hot laps that it wasn't the
same. It just wouldn't go and it was not the same as her other motor. So wondering
if they needed to switch to a different gear the team would be rushed for qualifying
coming up. What should we do was the question? Meanwhile crew member Kevin
would find that the brakes were broken and it was binding up the axle. Well there was
the problem. It wasn't the motor it was the brakes binding up the axle. So the
team would rush to fix the brakes hopefully in time to qualify. Good thing Alissa
was 14th out because it barely gave them enough time to get her out there.
Alissa would then turn a 13.21 for qualifying which would land her FAST TIME of the night!
Heat race time she would start 5th to end up 3rd. Alissa being the fast qualifier
would get to pick the pill for the line up for the main event. If she picked a 0
that would land her on the pole. Alissa held her breath and picked a 0!!! Yeah
she would be so excited and nervous at the same time. Alissa was very focused so the
team new she would be fine. Crew Chief Gary (DAD) and her would watch the track and
decide ahead of time the best place to run. The track was pretty dry around
the bottom and middle but there was some moisture around the top that reminded her of
racing her kart at Cycleland Speedway. She told herself she would drive like she was
at Cycleland. Starting next to young gun Ricky Wright Jr. she would do
everything to not let him get a jump on her. Alissa would get the jump and take the
lead. A pretty good lead for awhile Alissa would have a couple of yellow flags and a
few lapped cars to make a great challenge. Every restart Alissa would smoothly gain
her composure and lead the field. With around 8 laps to go of the 25 lap race, there
would be a red flag. With a restart and 8 laps to go and a lapped car in
between, Alissa would once again take the lead. Then with 2 laps to go the flag man
would hold out 2 flags letting them know there were 2 laps to go. Alissa being
fogged up on this cold foggy night thought that she had taken the checkered. So
Alissa would slow down for the cool off lap only to be passed by Bradley Terrell.
Then realizing that she made a huge mistake went after Bradley to pass him back for the
win on the last lap. Very exciting yet very stressful for the team. "It
is never over til the checkered said Dad. It was a very stressful race. But it
all worked out great. Alissa got her first win of her Sprint Car Career and she also
became the youngest female to ever win a Sprint Car main event."
Petaluma Speedway Point Race # 6 June 30th
2007
The first night back after a couple of weeks off would show that
Alissa and the team were ready to get the show on the road. Alissa was focused and
everybody was excited to be back. With a New "LOOK" of the white car
everyone felt refreshed. Ivan Worden with AFEX Graphics would help get the car ready
for race day. Alissa was hoping to end her bad luck streak. It all looked like
that might happen when she would qualify 3rd fast of the 21 cars with a time of
13.10. Her best time so far for the season. Even with the track already
looking dried out for her 3rd to last qualifying spot. She came in thinking she did
horrible. She was so smooth she felt she was slow. It was one of those kind of
tracks that you didn't want to over-drive the car for qualifying. She definitely did
not over drive the car. Her time would put her front row outside of the fast
dash. Starting next to Veteran driver Art McCarthy she didn't get a good enough jump
on him. He would bring the 4 car dash to the checkered. " I was happy for
Art because Art's dad passed away and he won it for his dad. I was just happy to
make a dash. I had the 2 fastest cars Adam McCarthy and Bradley Terrell behind
me. I just focused on finishing 2nd." Heat Race time would land her in
the last row starting next to Ricky Wright. Alissa would jump into
3rd from the start focusing in on the top 2 cars. Alissa would then get into
2nd and pressuring for 1st without enough laps she would end up 2nd.
With a full moon out Alissa seemed very focused and determined to change her
luck. She has finished 3rd twice this season but now for the first time she would
start in the front row of the main. She has come from the 4th row to finish 3rd so
why can't she win from the front row? Alissa was not about to let anything get her
distracted. Including the new radios that the drivers started wearing this
week. Alissa didn't do well with the radio because Alissa wears ear plugs every
race. So the radio and the ear plugs were not working well together. Alissa
just finally wore both and made it work. Alissa lined up for the Main event and when
the green flag was thrown Art McCarthy would get her on the start. Then fast time
Adam McCarthy one row behind her would get her also. Alissa would change up her line
and would start to catch them back. Alissa would follow the drivers through
traffic. Alissa drove a perfect race through all the lap traffic. After a
couple of yellow flags and more lap traffic Alissa would hunt down 2nd place Veteran
driver Art McCarthy. Alissa would do a pass on the bottom and then she would check
out. Now Alissa would try and hunt down
Adam McCarthy. "Adam was just too fast. I felt like my car was
a little lose but I wasn't going to give up. My dad says I am out here for laps
but I don't think like that when I am on the track. I am not supposed to be
pressuring veteran drivers. But I feel comfortable and my dad sets up the
car pretty good." Alissa would then take the checkered flag in 2nd
position. The whole Chick-o-Motorsports team would be extremely proud to be part of
this success that Alissa is having. Alissa will bring her 360 sprinter to
Antioch Speedway this Saturday to run with her favorite drivers. The Golden State
Challenge. The whole Chick-o-Motorsports team would like to thank all of our
sponsors who make everything possible and to wish you all a very happy and safe 4th of
July!!! Don't forget to pick up your Chick-o-Motorsports T-shirts at the track.
See ya at the races!!!!!!!!
Petaluma Speedway June 9th 2007 Golden State Challenge 410
race
Alissa's regular 360 points race would be off this week because
Petaluma was scheduled to host a 410 Golden State Challenge Race. Well, Alissa was
not about to miss out on a night of racing even if her 410 motor was out of service.
So Alissa decided to race with the best drivers in California. She did pretty
good last time they were here so she wanted to get some more experience and go for it
again. She would talk with dad and get him to agree to bring the 360 out for a night
of racing. Running her back up car she would show up focused and
determined to be competitive. She now would have her finals behind her and she would
be able to be focused on just racing for the summer. The track would look
pretty good. A little greasy but Alissa would do her best to qualify for at least a spot
to make the inversion. Missing the inversion by 1 spot Alissa would end up
starting 4th row of her heat race. Only taking 5 out of the heats Alissa would only
end up 7th to miss the A main. "The car was lose and I couldn't get much
traction. I should have moved my wing but there were not any yellows and I was
just concentrating on the race. It is OK because I was there to get experience
and my team and I learned a lot from the set up on our back up car. I was
upset from the outcome of the race but I knew I needed to look ahead to get ready for
my next challenge, the B main event." Alissa would start 3rd row of the B main
event. The Chick-o-motorsports team would make some changes to the car and it seemed
fast to Alissa. She would feel very confident from the start. Getting into the
4th position right away she would then enter the second lap of the race. Already
committed to the top of the track Alissa would encounter another car up set after hitting
the rut in turn 3&4. Alissa would hit her brakes trying to avoid a possible
collision. Upsetting her own car from hitting the brakes Alissa would end in a roll
over that would end her night. " I was so proud of my team!!! They would
do everything to try and get me back out. The Golden State Officials waiting so
patiently until my dad discovered the fuel tank had broke lose from the brackets. He said
we are done. He said if this was me racing I would say let's go but this is my baby girl
so we are not taking a chance. So we are done!! So we were done for the
night. At least it was not a points race for me! I enjoy running with these
guys. I have learned a lot from them and I am grateful." Although the
Civil War series will be in Alissa's backyard this weekend in Calistoga Alissa will be off
to Antioch Speedway where she is in the points and hopes for Rookie of the
year. Alissa would love to go to Calistoga to race the 1/2 mile track.
She plans to race Civil War full time next year and plans to run for Rookie
of the year. She has already raced 2 Civil War races this year and plans to
run the Petaluma night. If she runs more than 3 races this year she wont qualify for
rookie next year, So Alissa will save her Civil War race for Petaluma Speedway her
home track
Saturday June 2nd 2007 Points race #5
Alissa would come back to Petaluma determined to put
the crash behind her which would take her out of a 2nd spot in the A main event, which she
gained from the 4th row. The night would start out tricky. Being the
first qualifier out " I knew it would be tricky. The track was so greasy. Watching
each car after me qualify faster and faster I knew I was in trouble." 12th fast
out of 22 cars would land Alissa on the pole of her heat race. Trying to start the
race where track officials warned her to start she would get jumped by the outside
car. Frustrated but focused Alissa would pull off a second place finish. Come
main event time Alissa would start 12th. First lap into the race Alissa would get
into 10th. Then there would be a complete restart so she would go back to
12th. Then on the next restart Alissa would advance again to 10th but on lap 4 her
night would once again end. A car on her outside driving over her rear tire would
send her flipping. Another night of bad luck. Alissa wouldn't let it get her
down. After studying all week and taking finals for her final day of school Alissa
can't wait to get back to the track. This Saturday night she will be racing with the
best of the best. The Golden State Challenge at Petaluma. The best drivers in
California!!! She loves running with these guys. Alissa will run her 360 motor
again and this time she hopes for a great finish. "Last time I raced with these
guys I started 18th and got up to 8th. I was pressuring the guy in front of me
and I got a little impatient with 2 laps to go. Well , I can't wait to try
again"
"I would like to thank everyone who has
helped and supported me along this journey!! Thank you Jeff at Kalemba's Tire Center
in Rohnert Park. That new rubber is going to help me this weekend!!! Thank you
to the Hose Doctor for helping with those leaking lines!!! The family from Auto
Repairs Unlimited in Rohnert Park for traveling the distance to come and support
me!!! If we get that win my dad promises to have a a fan appreciation barbeque after
the races!!! Also T-shirts are coming!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you to
everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also thank you Janet from Mophead
graphx for dealing with all this crashing of all your beautiful vinyl!!!! Hope my
dad isn't driving you crazy!!!
Petaluma Speedway May 19th 2007 - Race#4
Another 25 car field and a super smooth track would put Alissa in
the mood to achieve her goal on this Saturday night. Being excited after getting a new
sponsor (Auto Repairs Unlimited from Rohnert Park) Alissa would go out to try her hardest
to do good. In hot laps the track looked pretty slick so crew chief Gary (Dad) would
decide to set the car up super hooked up. Alissa was the 7th car out so Gary never had the
chance to check the track again. Not knowing that the track actually came back and was
pretty fast Alissa felt that her car was really tight. So after last week's 2nd fast
qualifying laps she would end up 8th this week. Alissa was very disappointed in her times
but would talk with her dad to make the changes that would make her fast for the heat
race. Alissa would start 3rd row of the heat and she felt comfortable in her car right
away. Alissa then came from last to pass 2 cars that would put her 2nd place for the
checkered. Once again Alissa felt back to her ability of trying to achieve that goal of
hers. The pill picked for the lineup was a 6 which put Alissa in the 4th row inside for
the A main event. The start of the race was pretty uneventful and Alissa would get by a
couple of cars. Then on lap 2 there was a yellow flag due to a couple of cars tangling in
turn 1 @ 2. Alissa had worked her way up to 5th. Then once again Alissa felt comfortable
to pass her way to 2nd place. "She was so smooth and passing cars she looked so
comfortable" Say's crew chief Gary Geving. Nobody can believe she has worked her way
from the 4th row to 2nd place in about 5-7 laps. "The lap traffic was crazy but I
knew I had to attack it" said Alissa. Going through traffic made the whole team
nervous but Alissa kept her cool and stayed focused. Then on lap 15 from out of the blue
3rd place car Mike Henry would come up on her and drive it right into her sending her into
a spin that looked like it might become a flip. Then Mike would flip himself and into a
lapped car. Both cars flipped together, fortunately nobody was hurt. The only thing hurt
with Alissa was her motor which was crushed when he drove into her. "Hopefully my Dad
can get it fixed since we only have one motor. I would hate to miss any races. I have been
looking forward to racing 3 whole days this up and coming weekend. I know my dad will get
it done. He knows how much I love to race!" Going into Saturdays race Alissa was 7th
in points and leading the rookie points.
Alissa would like to thank everybody who supports her at the track.
She looks forward to everybody coming down each week to say hi.
Petaluma Speedway May 12th 2007 - Race #3
15 year old Alissa almost fulfilled her dream of becoming the
youngest female to capture a sprint car feature. Alissa would pick a pill that would have
her qualify 23rd of the 25 car field. She would then pull off a 2nd quick time of 13.32.
Alissa was so smooth yet so fast. With a 2nd fast qualifying time that would put Alissa in
the 2nd heat starting 3rd row outside. Taking 4 cars from the heat Alissa knew she had to
make some moves. Alissa would end up in the heat 3rd to transfer to the main. Fast time
qualifier Mike Henry would then have to pick the pill out of the hat to determine the line
up for the A main. Mike would pick an 8 so that would call for a complete inversion for
the main event. That would put Alissa in the 4th row starting inside. Everyone on the
Chick-o-Motorsports team had full confidence in Alissa. Gaining the name "cool
cat" would leave everyone to believe she would stay calm and cool. Alissa would start
the race being very careful and alert. The most nerve racking part is the start and Alissa
made it out safe. Alissa would run 6th and 7th until she started to come alive. Alissa
would take advantage of every little bobble and then some. She would stay in her line
which was very fast and she was on a mission. With some aggressive passes Alissa would
advance to 3rd place. Once again she amazed the whole team. In her rookie year of racing
we never expected her to look this good. Alissa would then make a pass on veteran driver
Mike Henry for the second place spot. She was on a roll. She then would pass the leader on
lap 18 only to get a yellow flag. That would put Alissa back to second place since she had
to go back a lap. The final restart would be the lap that veteran driver Mike Henry would
pass Alissa back for 2nd place. With a checkered flag at the end Alissa would end up with
another podium finish. Alissa almost fulfilled her dream and we believe it will happen
soon. Alissa wants to congratulate Mike Henry for another win and also Bradley Terrell for
his 2nd place finish. You can see Alissa race next Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway
where she leads the Rookie points and is now in the top 10 in points.
Placerville Speedway May5th 2007 - Civil war race #2
47 360 Sprint Cars would attend this Civil War race #2. It would
turn out to be a tight little red clay oval track. Big banked in turns 3 & 4 and ever
so tricky in 1 & 2. This would be Alissa's first time to the track. She couldn't wait
to get out there to try it out. The track was much smaller than she had been used to. She
was fast from the start . Hot laps were going good passing and using the top of the track.
Everyone told her to use the top. So she used the top so much that she would go over the
edge in turn 1 & 2 . Alissa would barely tip the car over after slipping off the edge.
Since this was a civil war race there were only Sprint cars at this race. So time was
limited to make repairs in time for qualifying.
The Chick-o-Motorsports team would work with the help of some
friends to try and get Alissa out in time for qualifying. There were a few cars that
flipped during qualifying so it helped make time for the team to make their repairs.
Alissa would make it in time to qualify. Being a little shy after going over the edge in
hot laps Alissa would qualify 36th fast. That would put her in the 4th heat race starting
5th row inside. Finishing 9th that would put her in the C main event. In the C main event
Alissa would start 3rd row inside. Alissa now knew she had to finish 2nd to make the B
main. She was on the move early in the race to try and make the transfer. Ater making a
few good passes she would come onto racer #3 Bill Cornwell. She came up off the top in
turn 2 carrying speed as Bill slid up the track in front of her she switched lanes to make
the pass and caught his left rear with her right rear tire. That sent her into a 180 into
the K-rale. Now Alissa would restart the back of the race. With a valiant charge from the
back she would run out of laps to finish 4th place with a lap speed faster than the
leaders.
Alissa says she can't wait to go back. With everyone's help to get
her back on the track she feels very confident she will qualify better next time. All the
support from all the different drivers especially Stephen Allard who helped her
confidence. The racing is like one big family she says. Being a rookie is hard and being a
girl is even harder. But people like Stephen who respect me as a driver help me through
this rookie time. I want to be the youngest female driver to win a feature main event. I
learn more each week so hopefully my dream will come true.
Alissa will return this Saturday night to her 360 racing point race
# 3 at Petaluma Speedway where she will try to live that dream of becoming the youngest
female to win a feature main event.
SILVERDOLLAR SPEEDWAY, CHICO CA. APRIL 27TH
PETALUMA SPEEDWAY PETALUMA, CA. APRIL 28TH
ALISSA'S 3RD FRIDAY IN A ROW BACK TO SILVER DOLLAR SPEEDWAY WAS
AGAIN AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE. SHE HAS BEEN RUNNING HER 410 SPRINT CAR THERE AND DOING
PRETTY GOOD DESPITE SOME MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. MISSING THE A MAIN BY 1 SPOT ON MOST NIGHTS
SHE HAS LEARNED A LOT BY RUNNING WITH THE BEST 410 DRIVERS OF CALIFORNIA. UNFORTUNATELY IN
THE B MAIN EVENT FRIDAY HER 410 MOTOR BLEW UP ENDING HER FRIDAY NIGHT RACING AT SILVER
DOLLAR SPEEDWAY. ALISSA SAYS SHE IS VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE SHE WAS REALLY LEARNING A
LOT FROM THOSE TALENTED 410 DRIVERS.
ALISSA WAS LEARNING SO MUCH THAT HER 2ND TRIP BACK TO PETALUMA
SPEEDWAY IN HER 360 SPRINT CAR WOULD LAND HER A 3RD PLACE PODIUM FINISH. OUT OF 25 CARS
ALISSA WOULD SHOW DETERMINATION AND SKILL. AFTER HOT LAPS TRACK OFFICIALS WOULD APPROACH
ALISSA TELLING HER IT WAS TIME TO REMOVE THE ROOKIE FLAG. ALISSA CUT THE FLAG PROMISING TO
NOT LET THEM DOWN. ALISSA WOULD THEN QUALIFY 5TH FAST (13.337) OUT OF 25 CARS. THAT WOULD
PUT HER 3RD ROW INSIDE FOR HER HEAT RACE. SHE THEN FINISHED 3RD TO TRANSFER TO THE A MAIN.
15 YEAR OLD ALISSA WOULD FEEL CONFIDENT AND Racy. SHE SAID BEFORE THE MAIN AFTER WATCHING
MIKE HENRY RUN THE TOP OF THE TRACK IN HIS RACE, "I'M GOING TO THE TOP IN THE
MAIN" "I AM READY TO RACE!" SHE WAS DETERMINED TO BE FAST AND ATTACK THAT
TOP OF THE TRACK BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE THE FASTEST PLACE TO BE.
STARTING SECOND ROW OUTSIDE OF THE MAIN NEXT TO MIKE HENRY
ALISSA WOULD GET INTO 2ND PLACE ON THE FIRST LAP. ALISSA WAS FAST
AND FOCUSED. SHE THEN RAN DOWN FAST TIME LEADER ART MCCARTHY. AROUND LAP 5 SHE WOULD DO AN
AWESOME SLIDE JOB PASS FOR THE LEAD. ALISSA USED HER SKILL AND Patience TO SLICE AND DICE
THROUGH LAP TRAFFIC. THE TRACK WAS SO FAST AND ROUGH AT THE SAME TIME. AFTER GOING THROUGH
LAP TRAFFIC FOR 15 LAPS THERE WAS A FINAL YELLOW FLAG RESTART. NOW SHE HAD MIKE HENRY
BEHIND HER WITH ONLY A FEW LAPS TO GO. MIKE HENRY WOULD PASS ALISSA COMING OUT OF TURN 3
AND 4 WHEN HE WENT LOW AND SHE WENT HIGH. THEY RACED THROUGH MORE LAPPED TRAFFIC AND
ALISSA GOT STUCK BEHIND A SLOWER CAR. ADAM MCCARTHY WOULD THEN PASS HER FOR 2ND. THERE
WERE SO MANY LAPPED CARS THAT ALISSA DIDN'T KNOW THAT SHE HAD BEEN PASSED FOR 2ND. SHE
SAID IF SHE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT SECOND PLACE WAS IN HER REACH SHE WOULD HAVE TRIED
HARDER TO PASS HIM BACK.
ALISSA DID AWESOME PULLING OFF A 3RD PLACE FINISH AFTER ONLY A
COUPLE OF RACES. THE WHOLE CHICK-O-MOTORSPORTS TEAM IS TRULY AMAZED BY HER PERFORMANCE.
HER DAD MUST HAVE BEEN THE PROUDEST OF ALL. BEING A PAST SPRINT CAR DRIVER AND EARNING 4
CHAMPIONSHIPS HE SAID SHE DID WHAT IT TOOK HIM 10 YEARS TO LEARN. "SHE WAS SO SMOOTH
AND CONFIDENT" "THE WAY SHE DROVE THAT CAR. I AM SO AMAZED AND PROUD OF MY BABY
GIRL" ALISSA SAYS "NOW IF WE CAN ONLY GET OUR 410 MOTOR FIXED SO I CAN GET BACK
TO SILVER DOLLAR SPEEDWAY FRIDAY SO I CAN LEARN MORE FROM THE BEST OF THE BEST"
Saturday April 7th Antioch
Speedway
Golden State Challenge- 410 race
The Golden State 410 race was a learning experience for the
whole Chick-O-Motorsports team. Crew Chief, Gary Geving, looked at the track in the
beginning, and it was very dry. After setting the car up for dry-slick conditions, the
track was watered, and became very hooked up, which made the car very off for qualifying.
Alissa would qualify last in the 25 car field. Heat race number one would put her in the
back for the start. After a couple of passes, and a couple cars out of the race, Alissa
would end up in a transfer spot. With only a couple laps to go, after a yellow lap
restart, Alissa would hope to keep her transfer spot to the A main. Unfortunately, another
driver wanted the spot as much as Alissa did. After racing side by side for two laps, the
other driver would drive through the infield and across the track, only to push her up
into the fence. Alissa would flip, and end the race with a red flag. So, with the help of
many people, they would get the car out for the B-main. Alissa would start last in the B
main. She would make a couple of good passes, and eventually make a transfer spot for the
A. On the last lap, she would lose the transfer spot. It was probably better though,
because after her flip in the heat race, some things were not right on the car. Once
again, Alissa and her team would learn a lot about setups and track conditions. Overall,
everyone is having fun, and cant wait to get back to the track.
Friday April 6th Ocean Speedway
Watsonville, CA
Friday was a holiday, so the Chick-O-Motorsports Team decided to head off to
Watsonville, to do some 360 sprint car racing. Around 32 cars were there to race the 1/4
mile, semi-banked clay oval. Top drivers like Brent and Bud Kaeding, Mike Henry, and Brad
Furr were all there. Alissa qualified 15th fast, and adapted well to the track. She was
starting front row outside of the heat. Being a rookie and knowing she had a few of the
very fast guys behind her, she jumped the start a little. Then after a second shot, the
pole driver jumped, so they were both sent to the back. After passing a couple of cars,
she barely missed the transfer spot to the main. In the B, Alissa would have to start 3rd
row. Alissa would finish 5th in the B, to move forward to the A. Dry-slick conditions
would limit passing in the A, but Alissa would start 20th, and finish 15th. Overall,
everyone on the Chick-O-Motorsports team would be very happy with her continued effort to
learn, and do better after each race. Alissa met a lot of new people this weekend, and has
realized how big the racing family is. She cant wait to go back to Ocean Speedway, where
the promoter and officials were very friendly and helpful as well.
March 31st Petaluma Speedway
Race #1
Opening night was off to a great start with
a great turn out of cars. 30 Sprint Cars had shown up for the 3/8 mile hooked up, fast
track. After track officials worked all week to deliver an awesome track, there were some
happy drivers for opening night. 10th out to qualify, Alissa would be the fastest with a
time of 14.30. after a few laps of qualifying, she would hold second fast for a while.
After the track got faster and faster, she would end up 12th out of 30 sprints. Alissa
looked smooth and fast. Qualifying 12th that would put Alissa on the front row of her heat
race, but being a rookie would put her last row. Alissa raced the 10 lap heat race passing
only enough cars to miss the A main by one car. So, for the B-Main event, Alissa would
have once again started front row, but was put back because of her rookie status. Alissa
finished the B main only missing the A again by one car. Alissa looked great, she got a
lot of experience, and can not wait to take off the rookie flag. Alissa's next race at
Petaluma Speedway will be April 28th. Meanwhile, you can catch her at Antioch Speedway
April 14th, where she is running for rookie of the year. Alissa would like to thank all of
her sponsors & friends who came to support her this week. She says she is having a
blast. Alissa didn't know it would be this much fun. For a blog version by Alissa, visit

Race #1
There wasn't a very big turn out of
cars with the Civil War 360 race going on at Placerville Speedway. So with a small
car count they didn't qualify the cars. They drew a pill for the line up.
Being a rookie though for the first 3 races Alissa will have to start in the back of the
pack. So, starting last row of the heat race she ran a consecutive race.
Passing one car for a 5th place finish she looked ready to start the main. Again
with the Rookie status she started last in the A main event. That didn't keep her
from going forward. Alissa had a great car set up by her crew she felt stable going
into the turns. One turn hooked up fast and one turn dry and slick. Quickly
Alissa adjusted to the track. Making some great passes and looking like a confidant
racer she moved forward. Running 6th place coming out of turn 3 Alissa looped it and
stalled her 3x car. It didn't stop Alissa from charging again to run more consistent
laps. By lap 25 Alissa finished 8th. Happy that she looked like a confidant
racer out there her crew was very proud of her. You can see Alissa at her next race
Petaluma Speedway March 31st where she will be competing with a few other drivers for
Rookie of the year. Thanks to all of her Sponsors and family for their
continued support!!!! |
