PENNGROVE, CA –(11-10-09)- Since she was old enough to walk, California’s Alissa Geving was determined to become a successful race car driver. Now, at 18 years of age, the two time Petaluma Speedway track champion can certainly add the term “success” to her career profile. 

While she has accomplished a great deal in her young career, Geving has decided she isn’t finished yet and is seeking opportunities for the 2010 racing season. The talented third generation driver is known for her success behind the wheel of a sprint car and for her ability to draw great media attention all the way to the national level as she since she began racing full sized sprint cars three years ago.

“I’m very happy with the accomplishments I have achieved in my racing career,” said Geving, a fulltime student at Chico State University. “But I feel like I am far from finished chasing goals just yet. We are looking for the support to make a strong return to the track for 2010 racing season.”

Geving is currently seeking additional sponsorship opportunities for her Chicko Motorsports #3x Sprint Car Team in the racing season to come. Her preliminary racing plans include a fulltime effort in the 2010 Civil War Sprint Car Series as well as another season in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Sprint Car Series. 
The Civil War Sprint Car Series is California’s premier racing season for 360 cubic inch powered sprint cars. The series competes annually at more than five different tracks and more than a dozen total events. The campaign draws the best drivers from California and the Pacific Northwest and is known for its great competition, diversity and its sell-out crowds at nearly every event on the annual tour. Petaluma Speedway is an action packed 3/8 mile dirt track located in the heart of the Sonoma coastal range and the California Wine County. The facility hosts some of California’s top talent nearly every Saturday night from March until October.

“I love racing with the Civil War Series, we didn’t make a fulltime effort of it last season and I am ready to return next year if we can get the financial assistance to do so, we are working on a few different things to put it all together,” said Geving, a 2008 Civil War Series Rookie of the Year recipient. “Petaluma is my home track where my Dad and my Grandfather raced and I want to continue that tradition not only for myself for my local fan base and sponsors that have supported me all along.”

After a successful stint in Outlaw Karts, Geving begin turning heads three years ago when she followed in the footsteps of her grandfather, Leroy Geving and her father, Gary Geving behind the wheel of a winged sprint car at her hometown track of Petaluma Speedway. In 2007 she became the youngest female driver in the nation to win a winged sprint car feature event at just 15-years-old.
One year later Geving took her accolades to the next level when she became the youngest lady competitor to win a winged sprint car championship which she followed up this season with a second such title in the Petaluma Speedway All Pro Series. Geving also earned the 2008 Rookie of the Year Award in the competitive Civil War Sprint Car Series and earned Rookie honors at both Petaluma Speedway and Antioch Speedway. 

In addition to her experience in a winged sprint car, Geving has had great success this past season in wingless competition, including a heat race win and a top finish in a high profile USAC event at her hometown track. She made her asphalt racing debut earlier this summer when she drove for veteran car owner Ted Finkenbinder in a USAC Western States Sprint Car event in Northern California.

Earlier this season, Geving participated in the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Combine event in North Carolina. The event featured 30 of the Nation’s most talented drivers in a weeklong event where they display their abilities on and off the track to top associates of NASCAR. Geving is already looking forward to a possible return to the annual event next season.

In October of 2010, Geving was the first western sprint car driver to appear on national late night television when she was invited to appear on NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly. The appearance was one of many media opportunities that Geving has had throughout her career. In addition to the popular NBC airing she has appeared in various newspapers, magazines, radio shows and television programs over the last two years. 

Among the many media events, Geving has been featured in Sports Illustrated, Circle Track Magazine, DirtVision.com and the FOX Network’s “Trackside at Infineon Raceway” program where she was featured for her success behind the wheel and then invited to return to co-host the review of the movie “Speed Racer” after it’s premier. In all of her media opportunities, Geving has represented all of her marketing partners positively and professionally.

Regardless of the venue in which she competes, Geving displays a great deal of sportsmanship and professionalism. These two qualities are highly recognized by the sport’s highest level and are very crucial when it comes to one day driving a race car for a living. Geving is not limited to those interested in becoming a marketing partner for her 2010 Sprint Car team. Such opportunities will well prepare her to apply for a return to the Diversity testing next year and could very well bring a team a good deal of media attention with this young, talented woman behind the wheel.
