PENNGROVE, CA (7-7-10) – This Saturday night Alissa Geving and her Chicko Motorsports Sprint Car Team will continue their commitment to the 2010 Golden State Challenge Series in round 19 of competition at Santa Maria Speedway. Despite a series of mechanical setbacks throughout the year, Geving remains commited to the King of California tour and currently ranks in the top ten among California's best drivers.

"I'm in this series for the long haul that’s for sure," said Geving. "I set my goal to be in the top ten my first year and we are a little bit ahead of that. We've just had our share of misfortunes lately. It happens to best. I have a great group of sponsors that support me through the highs and lows and I appreciate all of them. I'm hoping this week we will get a top finish."

As she heads to Santa Maria Speedway for the second time in her racing career, Geving is currently seventh in the Golden State Challenge Series point standings. She has four top ten finishes in this grueling series that features the best of the best in 410 sprint car racing. She's garnered two heat race wins so far and has had a number of top runs that would have netted top finishes until mechanical woes forced her out of contention.

Last weekend, Geving was well on her way to a top finish at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico following her preliminary competition. In qualifying during the July Fourth Spectacular at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico the 18-year-old third generation driver was 7th quick with a 12:275 second lap.

In heat race competition, Geving started in the third position and overtook hot shoe Bud Kaeding for the bridesmaid position behind point leader Jonathan Allard. The qualifying run and the second place finish placed Geving in the pre-feature dash that would ultimately determine her starting position for the 30-lap A-feature.

"The car felt great in qualifying and the heat race," said Geving. "Getting around Bud for second place was a blast. The car was really good during the preliminary races but the track was drying pretty fast."

Sunday's race program was extremely fast paced due to a fireworks display that followed the racing activity. With little time to make a decision on set up, the Chicko Motorsports team made a ill fated tire change that resulted in a spin and and eighth place finish. In the feature event Geving once again fell victim to the dry slick conditions and missed set up and suffered a pair of spins to finish 21st.

"The good night suddenly turned bad, what can I say," said Geving. "There was very little time between races to get our set up perfected and some fast decisions that didn't work out. But at the same time that's something we need to be prepared for because it could happen anytime down the road. This week we get back to Saturday night racing at the regular time and I think we will rally back into the swing of things."

PENNGROVE, CA (6-27-10) – Racing weekly with the most competitive winged sprint car series in the Western States can take a toll on a driver, a team and equipment. Alissa Geving is no stranger to all of the side effects mentioned as she competes in her first full season with the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series and she takes the set backs and the accolades in stride like any professional should.

"In this sport everyone has good luck and bad luck," said Geving. "And I've had my share of misfortunes recently no doubt. But you just have to look at the big picture, learn from the mistakes and move on to the next race. It's what we all have to do from time to time."

This weekend, Geving will return to one of her favorite area tracks as the Golden State Challenge Sprint Car Series visits the quarter-mile Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California for the July Fourth holiday. The event marks the 18th event on the grueling Golden State Challenge Series tour.

Geving is currently 7th in the series standings, in the 17 events that she has competed she has four top ten finishes and a pair of heat race victories and a semi-main event win. This weekend, Geving hopes the return to familiar ground will help her score a top finish at Silver Dollar.

"I have a lot of laps at Chico and I love the place," said Geving. "Hopefully we can use our past experience there to drive our way to a top finish. It's always a lot of fun racing on the July Fourth holiday with all the fans in the stands and the familiar. I'm looking forward to going back to Chico."

Last weekend, Geving was on her way to a top run in round 17 of the King of California Series at Giant Chevrolet Speedway in Hanford before mechanical woes parked her for the night. In qualifying, Geving drover the Chick-o- Motorsports #3x to the sixth fastest qualifying lap of the night with a 13:861.
In the 10-lap preliminary heat race she finished fifth and secured a starting spot in the six lap dash due to her success in the preliminaries. After finishing fourth in the dash she started on the outside of the second row for the 30-lap feature event. Unfortunately, as the race took to the track Geving's mechanical gremlin returns when the driveline bolts loosened, forcing her to pull of the track early and forfeit a potential top five finish.

"We we're having a very good night, it was the night this whole team really needed," said Geving, who finished 18th officially. "Eventually our luck has to turn around. We just keep having some simple mechanical failures that take us out of a race. It's been frustrating but it's all part of the sport."
