PENNGROVE, CA (5-19-10) – Since announcing she was defecting to the traveling Golden State Challenge 410 Sprint Car tour to expand her horizons in her racing career, Penngrove’s Alissa Geving has been flooded with emails from fans asking when she will make a return visit to her home track of Petaluma Speedway. This Saturday night, those passionate “Chicko” fans will once again be able to cheer for their favorite lady driver of the North Bay as the two time track champion will make a return visit to the Saturday night All Pro series at the Sonoma Marin County Fairgrounds.

“I’m enjoying my run with the Golden State Challenge Series but I do miss the great fans at Petaluma Speedway,” said Geving. “It’s where my Grandfather and my Dad raced and the where I first raced in a sprint car so its always going to be my home track. We have a Saturday night off this week in the GSC so I’ve decided to return to Petaluma for an All Pro event.”

Geving will compete in the Golden State Challenge Series this week as well. However, the tour competes on Friday night rather than Saturday night this week. The Giant Chevrolet Speedway in Hanford will be the venue for the King of California tour this week. The event will mark the first time Geving has raced on the competitive 3/8mile. It’s also the first time in three years the competitive series has raced on the track formerly known as “Kings Speedway.”

“I’m really looking forward to this weekend for both events,” said Geving. “This will be the first time I have raced at Hanford so that is always exciting and coming back to Petaluma Speedway is a no-brainer when it comes to how I feel about it. We always do well their as a team, I love the local fans and it’s nice and close to home. I’m excited.”

Saturday night will mark the first of two Petaluma visits in just one week for Geving. On Friday night, May 28 she returns there when the Golden State Challenge Series competes on the track that put her name in the history books as the youngest female sprint car winner and champion in the nation two years ago. The Golden State Challenge Series will then keep the Chicko Motorsports team close to home over Memorial Day weekend with two days of racing at the famed Calistoga Speedway in the Napa Valley.

Last weekend Geving raced in two different 410 sprint car events. On Friday night she took to the banks of Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico to compete in their Feather Falls weekly championship event. In qualifying Geving turned a lap time of 13:426 which placed her 18th on the roster. After missing the transfer in her heat race she made up lost ground in the B feature with a third place finish to transfer into the A-main.

In the 25-lap feature event Geving started deep in the field, in the 18th starting position. The distant starting spot didn’t stop her from pressing forward as she drove her Tillett Tool Racing-Pit Stop USA #3X into the top ten before the halfway point of the race and ended her night with a strong 7th place finish.
“It was a good night for us, 18th to 7th I can’t complain about that especially when we had some problems with the steering box before qualifying even started,” said Geving, who remains determined and competitive aboard a race car that is beginning to show it’s age and number of races. “When things go wrong with the car it does discourage me but I have a lot of support that keeps me going. Jonathan Allard has been a real motivational colleague for me this year to keep my chin up.”

On Saturday, Geving traveled south to the distant Tulare Thunderbowl to compete in round eight of the Golden State Challenge series. On this particular night she felt her share of mechanical foes once again but salvaged a 15th place finish in the feature event and advanced to seventh in the series point standings.

“We had our share of problems with the car and set up early on,” said Geving. “It set me back in qualifying and the heat race and I just was never able to make a strong rally back. I hung in there to get the needed points. Hopefully this week we can start to overcome these challenging times.”

PENNGROVE, CA (4-24-10) – When it comes to racing, or basically anything in life, Alissa Geving isn’t happy with below par performance. In recent weeks the two-time Petaluma Speedway track champion has shown great patience as she has been faced with the adversity of mechanical woes aboard her Tillett Tool, Pit Stop USA, Matt Cordeiro Enterprises #3x sprint car.

During last Saturday’s fifth round of the Golden State Challenge Series, Geving was tossed adversity once again. The venue was Ocean Speedway on the Santa Cruz County Fairgrounds and Geving kept her head up despite continuing set backs in the power plant of her popular red and white Maxim sprint car.

“It’s been very frustrating to say the least,” said Geving. “We’ve gone through two ignition systems only to learn the problem is far deeper than that. We’ve been in a situation where I could go back to racing my 360 at Petaluma and the Civil War but I really want to stick with the Golden State Series.”

Through the help of fellow colleagues and teamwork among her sponsors, Geving is due hoping to acquire a fresher motor in the coming weeks, which should remedy many of the set backs she has suffered in the last three events of the Golden State Challenge Series tour. This week the series returns to the famed Santa Maria Speedway and Geving hopes times will soon be a little better in the #3x pit area throughout the night.

“Pretty soon things get to a point where they can only get better,” said Geving, who always finds the positive in nearly everything she does. “I’m really happy we have found what our problem is, now we just need to find the solution. I think I can make up some lost ground in this series soon.”

Last Saturday night Geving was 19th in qualifying with a lap time of 15:089. In her heart race she advanced from seventh place to ninth which placed her in the 12-lap semi main event in order to qualify for the A-feature. In the B-main Geving drove from fourth to first to lock the 19th starting position in the 30-lap A-feature.

Racing on a very hard packed, single lane track for then A-feature, Geving was only able to advance to the 17th position at the conclusion of the event. She continued to maintain the 8th place in the standings behind Zach Zimmerly and Jason Statler.

“I’m really looking forward to Santa Maria,” said Geving. “I haven’t race there before but I hear it is a lot of fun. Hopefully we can make a better showing this time for my fans and my sponsors. I appreciate their support through these tough times we’ve had.”
